To Breastfeeding Moms

I have two sons that I chose to use formula with, I'm at peace with that choice. I'm very uncomfortable, however, about doing any breastfeeding in public. No offense, but I think it particularly offensive when ladies choose not to cover up while breastfeeding in public, like at a resaraunt. With that said, I am pregnant with baby number 3 and would like explore the option of pumping only so that my baby has the benefits of breastmilk without having to breastfeed in front of anyone. Walk me through it- how big of a pain would it be to just...

Infant with Reflux

Hi, I have a 5 week old daughter and since day 3, the doctor said she had reflux. She was not sleeping well and was just a little fussy. He put her on Zantac and switched her formula to Similac Alimentum. I took her off the Zantac b/c it wasn't making a difference and keeping her awake. Now, since last night, she has been uncontrollably crying. Her spell lasted from 6-1030 last night, then she slept on me last night and was ok. Then this morning, same thing. I noticed she had thrush and took her to the dr. He said thrush wouldn't...

Trouble with Avent Bottles?

My daughter is mostly breastfed but gets 1-2 bottles a day. I've been using the Avent bottles with #3 and #4 nipples (I felt like she got frustrated with #2), but it seems like she can't get a good seal with the nipple and the formula ends up all over her bib/clothes...totally soaking her. I think part of the problem is that she chews on the nipple or plays with it. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I just switch back to the smaller nipple? or try different bottles? She is almost 7 months so she should be on the #4. I hate to...

Nursing ALL the Time

I know people say they nurse all the time, but I literally do. It starts when we get up at 8 am and he'll eat for 30 min or so until drifting off, then I'll lay him down. 5 to 10 minutes later, he'll be awake and demand more. This goes on until 2 or 3 in the afternoon. He's 6 weeks old now and gaining weight (started off at 8 lbs and is now over 11!) the Only way I really get him down for a nap during the day is to give him 4 oz of formula. Now he's getting up at night to do the same. We were up for 3 hours last night. What is going...

Any Experience with Avent Sippy Cups

My 11 month old twin sons are in the process of weaning from the bottle. They have had a sippy cup (Nuby) since 6 months. Once they mastered the Nuby sippy cup I moved on to the Playtex cups whihc they don't like. I think the flow is just too slow and removing the piece inside the cup makes the flow much to fast. I tried cups with straws which they don't like either. I recently went back to the Nuby which they drink a little from but it leaks so much. We used Avent bottles and were pleased with those and thought we would try the Avent...

Breast Pad Recommendations

I am looking for breast pads that are thin and discreet. I have Lansinoh ones right now and have also tried Gerber and the Avent washable, reusable ones, but I want something that is not bulky and that you can't see the shape of through your clothes. What do you recommend? Also, does anyone recommend those Lily-Padz? Thanks!

Fussy Eater and Trouble Getting Baby to Sleep

My name is K. and I had my first child on 2/18. I breastfed for the first 2 1/2 weeks but it was to exhausting for me because she seemed to want to feed 24/7. We have switched to formula and noticed a lot of times when feeding her she gets really agitated and starts to cry. She will sometimes spit out the bottle and then cry because she wants it back. We have tried switching formulas thinking that it may be gas and sometimes it seems that it has helped but then she goes right back to this behavior. She also will get like this when...

Breastfeeding Babe Refuses Bottle

I have been breastfeeding my baby exclusivly since she was 2 weeks old. Now that she is 4 months old I would like to seperate from her for longer than 1 hour. I have tried many bottles with many different nipples. She refuses to take it, no matter who gives her the bottle. I have now tried a cup. She takes a few sips and then doesn't want it. I know she knows how to drink from it. She just doesn't want to. What do I do? Mommy needs a break! I forgot to mention that it is breastmilk in the bottle!
