Calling All Healthy Moms for Advice

I know some of you are very nutrition conscious and I would love your advice. What dietary changes have you made that really made a difference in your life? I am not looking for weight loss advice, rather suggestions about how to increase energy/decrease stress, etc. I tend to be very chemically sensitive. For example, caffeine has quite an affect on me: sometimes it gives me a wonderful manic burst of energy, but sometimes it just makes me completely nervous and jittery. Lately, I am feeling run down and pretty grumpy for a couple weeks of...

Do You Have a Joint Checking Account with Your Husband?

I have been married for five years, and for the last year plus have been staying home with my son. Before I was a teacher, and I made my own salary, although it was less than my husband's. For years, he would say we were going to set up a joint account, but since I had my own money, I didn't push him. It was just one of the many things he never got around to. Usually his excuse was that he was shopping for a new bank. Now I have no money of my own (other than the modest amounts in my retirement accounts) and I constantly have to ask...

5 Yr. Old with Hyperactivity Problem

Hi ladies, this is the first post for me. Does anyone have a child with a hyperactivity problem? My daughter is the youngest in her kindergarden class(sept. birthday) and up until now the teacher has felt her problems are because of being immature. She has trouble sitting still and keep quiet during class. She learns well but everything is messy because she doesn't like to sit still to work. The teacher feels she will be left behind in first grade because of these problems. I am hoping to keep her back in kindergarden. I don't want...

Weaning a 14 Month Old

My oldest son, now 5, weaned himself at 14 months. His baby brother, however, does not seemed inclined to stop nursing on his own. He only really nurses 3 times a day, but he often wants to latch on just for comfort. He already uses sippy cups for juice and water, but he is allergic to milk so I don't know what I should try to give him instead. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

New to Autism

My daughter has recently been diagnosed by her pedia with a mild form of Autism. This does explain all of the developmental delays I have been experiencing with her. I've even asked for advice through mamasource about potty training and talking. Anyway, we have an appt with Child Find through LISD (in Sept)and an appt with a nuerologist (in Oct) to determine the level of her disability. I do consider myself fortunate because she can ask me for things with one or two words, like "milk" "snack" "go outside?" She is attached to my husband and...

Another H1N1 Question

I noticed on some responses about H1N1 that some people say they have had it. I was wondering what your symptoms were, how quickly the flu came on, how long it lasted and what helped - if anything. My 6 year old is home today with a 102 fever and she is now complaining of a headache. I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old also. I do have my daughter quarantined, to her dismay. She seems to be in good sprites. I don't want to over react, but the stupid media is getting me crazy! I'm just looking for a little reassurance.

Celebration of Life

We are planning a Celebration of Life service for a family member who recently passed. My daughter said "He would want everyone to show up in tie-dyed t-shirt with beer in hand". So we're going with it. We're putting together a collage poster to be displayed at the entrance, and a personal memory table with several of his personal items. The room where the "party" will take place has a screen so we can do a slide show. We'll have a mic so people can come up and share their stories. At the end, we'll be serving food and beverages. ...

Anyone Else Ever Suffered from Sleep Paralysis?

I have not experienced this in a long time now. but,I used to have it quite a bit I guess it is sort of brought on by being sleep deprived and it is kinda when the body is in between sleep and being awake your brain is awake but not your body yet,and so it will feel like your body is paralyzed and you will struggle and struggle to open your eyes but you can not and it is very scary to deal with I guess finally at an point the body connects with the brain and you finally wake up. I have also heard well like buzz noises in between the 2...
