Little Things to Get Back in Shape / Encouragement Appreciated Also

Hi Moms, I need your support, and ideas/helpful hints/tidbits to get healthier, shed some inches, get back in shape. OH - just started walking at lunch at work (15 minutes). I'm 45, mom of a 6 year old, wife of a med school student (who is in school with a bunch of hot 25 year old childless women). :P Hubby loves me, that I know, but he'd like to see "healthy body me" again. I reminded him that my healthy body is going to be a 45 year old/gave birth healthy - and I'd like to see that again, too. I'm just tired and bogged down. I...

I Need a Good Pediatrician, Please Help!

Hello, I used to use Dr. Lepley as my pediatrician before I moved away from Oklahoma. I have recently moved back to Oklahoma and since I have been back I have not been able to set an appointment when I need one. I have four children and every time I call they tell me that the next available appointment is a week and a half later. Can someone help me find another good doctor for my children?! Thanks much!

Edward Hospital vs Rush Copley

I just found out that I am pregnant with baby #3. Baby #1 was born in the Alternative Birthing Center at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, and I had a wonderful birth experience. Baby #2 was born at Edward Hospital, and I had a so-so experience. I delivered both kids naturally without an epidural. Now I'm wondering if any of you moms have delivered at both Rush Copley and Edward, and whether or not you would favor one hospital over another. I live close to Edward Hospital and like my OB, but I wasn't impressed with the hospital...

Seeking Dentist in Bloomington

I recently moved to Bloomington and will need to see the dentist soon. Any suggestions? When do you take your baby? My daughter is 15 months old and has 12 teeth. She likes to play with her toothbrush but I haven't really tried too hard to get her to brush. I use that weird finger brush on her as well. Should I look for a pediatric dentist or do regular dentists see the little ones? Growing up in Chicago, my mom worked for our dentist so I never had to look for one!

Looking for a Good Family Doctor

Hi moms, I am looking for a new family doctor in the McKinney area. I really need a doctor who is patient, caring and concerned for the well being of both the individual and family. I have 4 kids and we need a doctor who understands how to treat the whole family when one member gets sick. I really hate having one child diagnosed with strep throat and then the doctor not treating the whole family. My current doctors office makes me bring in each family member as they get sick. This not only costs lots of money and time but is annoying. ...

Exercise and Motherhood

I have one daughter, almost three and a half years old. Before she was born, I used to workout I wouldn't say a lot but definitely a lot more than now. What I miss the most is the group fitness classes at the gym. Now I'm working full-time so I try to go to the gym here and there after work. On nice days, I find it difficult to get myself to the gym to use the treadmill and stair master. My gym is literally in walking distance of my house! I think since I've become a mom, I have become complacent with exercise. I don't have a sitter to...

Need Advice About Losing Weight

I have been doing the Richard Simmons Food mover and have lost 11 pounds, great! However, I've been doing it since December 1. I eat about 1200 calories a day usually alittle less I don't have a daily exercise routine, but I clean houses for 6 hours everyday. Someone told me that the richard Simmons plan is outdated & maybe that's why it's not working well. I have to agree that it's outdated alot of foods aren't in the books. It's frustrating! I need to lose like 50 lbs more. I am open to any & all suggestions. TIA

Bullying...To Hit Back or Not

Hello everyone!! Here is my issue; I have a fourth grader who has been bullied all year long by the same child. I have been to school on numerous occasions talking to the administration and the teacher about this problem. My son recently has been getting played like a puppet. His tormentor has found that by taunting him, my son will swear when he is angry (a trait I do not condone). His bully then goes to the teacher and tells on him, now he is in trouble for swearing his bully comes out smelling like a rose. I have been advocating to...

Sleep Problems in a Preschooler

My daughter is 3 1/2 and NEVER sleeps through the night. She was a great sleeper from 6 months until about 18 months, but starting at that point she began fighting us about bedtimes and then waking constantly throughout the night. When we put her to bed she screams and whines for hours, getting out of her bed and standing at her door asking us to come and cover her up again, read her another book, get her a drink, find her security blanket (lost in her bedcovers), etc. We almost always end up giving in to her screaming and whining after...

Good Diet Reicpes

Ok, so my husband has finally agreed to go on a cruise. (yeah me. it only took 5 years) Anyways, we aren't going until next year, but we both have quite a bit of weight to lose. I have already lost 70 lbs, but I still have about 25 to go. He has closer to 100lbs to lose. My question is, does anyone have any good recipes that are very healthy, easy to make, and don't cost a fourntune to make. Also if anyone has any toning exercises that they would like to pass on, i would really appreciate it.
