Epi Pen ????

My daughter is allergic to peanuts and we just went and picked up her epi pen and I noticed that it exp in may 2007. That just doesn't seem to be a very long shelf life for something that you hopefully will not need to use often. Of course if this is the norm that is fine but I feel like maybe the pharmacy just gave me an old one that they had on the shelf and if that is the case I am going back up there. So if someone could check theirs and let me know I would sooo appreciate it!

Toddler with Milk and Egg Allergy

We just found out that my 2 year old son has a milk and egg allergy. He was diagnosed with EE (Eosinophilic Esophagitis)and GERD. The EE is caused usually from a food allergy- the white blood cells in the esophagas over produce from the food allergy and cause inflamtion in the esophagas. I have never heard of this disease. I am looking for ideas from mom's that have children with same food allergy for suggestions on good snacks, drinks and foods. And where and what do you get when you go out to eat! Thanks

Question for Moms Who Must Carry Medications (Like Benadryl or Epi-pen).

My three-year-old son has a couple of food allergies that require us to carry an Epi-Pen and Benadryl with us. I need it to be accessible, so I keep it in my purse or in the diaper bag. The problem is that my son loves Benadryl - it has a good taste - and lately he's been "investigating" the bag that I keep the meds in. The Benadryl has a child-proof top, but still ... I'm afraid one day he'll get it off and drink. I'm also worried he'll get the top of the Epi-Pen off and accidentally inject himself. Anyone have ideas about how to keep...

Nut Allergic Child and Sports

Hi! I have a nut allergic son who has been having severe reactions. Recently, he had a reaction from touching my daughter's new basketball that was handed to her by an assistant at the school. I could only speculate that she may have had some nut product for breakfast and then touched the ball, which my son then touched. So, my question is how do you handle sports activities with a severely nut allergic child? If he plays any sport where he is touching equipment (ball, bat, mat, etc.) that other children are contacting and those other...

What Causes Multiple Allergies? My Daughter Is Allergic to So Many Foods!

My daughter is 4 years old and has multiple allergies. She is allergic to nuts, peaunuts, legumes, seeds, eggs, dairy, citrus, and is sensitive to many other foods. She gets eczema or hives when exposed. Any thoughts as to what causes this. She has not outgrown any of them yet. I am afraid thatit has to do with sleeping in a room that my mother painted when I had just gotten pregnant. She forgot that there was a tray of wet paint still under the bed until the next day. This has made me feel very angry at myself and secretly angry at...
