Well, you'll definitely need a set of breasts! A bouncy seat so you can occasionally set down the baby (y'know, so you can pee), a nasal aspirator, a good thermometer, and a LOT of patience.

Brianna J commented on November 4, 2009 - I can't live w/o the bouncy seat! My last never took to the swing, but loved the bouncy seat! About the blanket on the floor comment.. Doesn't work when A, you have other kids around, B, some babys don't like to lay flat, but like the bouncy seat...
The baby carrier of your (and baby's) choice: sling, bjorn, ergo...

Brenda H commented on October 22, 2009 - The Sling Ezee enabled me to do everything with baby in tow - having seriously herniated a disc a few years back, any sort of backpack-style carrier puts WAY too much pressure on my lower back (And many are really not good for a baby's pelvis/legs...
Lydia B commented on October 22, 2009 - We used the Moby Wrap many hours a day every day in the first three months, and we're still using it several times a week at 12 months and 28 pounds (though only on my back now).

Nursing pillow (if you are nursing) - beats stacking up regular pillows. A good baby monitor. Bouncy seat and (later) exersaucer (although I didn't believe the exersaucer at first).

Lots of spit cloths. Try gear at a friends house before buying (see what your baby likes), then buy on CraigsList (babies are gentle on their gear). Go to a place to try lots of carriers to find what works for you and your baby.Invest in a good diaper bag

- Face Cloths are a must - they can double as spit cloths and runny nosies and anything in between!! Buy bulk at Costco! they have fun colors too so you can match your decor. Target has embroided ones if you want to add to a theme.

- Forgot to mention bulk buying facecloths are MUCH cheaper than the fancy burp cloths you buy now-a-days, plus they are plentiful, so you never have to search for a burp cloth if they are in the wash!

Brianna J commented on November 4, 2009 - Ha Ha, sorry won't be seeing me pay that much for a glorified doggy pillow! Babys aren't dumb, they know the difference between mommys arms & a fuzzy pillow! Just ask my youngest! LoL. Great idea tho, just too expensive & could prb. make my own..
