CONSIGNMENT - Kids hardly wear out their clothes, check your local consignment store for play clothes, jeans & winter coats (which hardly see more than one season). You can also consign your old kids clothes to earn store credit towards a "new" wardrobe.
GROCERY LIST BOOK - I use a notebook to keep my grocery lists in. It stops me from losing or forgeting small bits of paper & makes shopping easier. This way if I can't get everything in one stop I know what I've already got & what I still need for later

BluButterfly commented on November 7, 2009 - Great idea!! I am one of those scrappy note makers you mentioned. If I had a nickel for every "NEW" shopping list I started, I bet I could buy a weeks groceries.

Shop mid week, many stores offer additional specials during the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) to entice you into their store, when shopping traffic is low. This is a great time to save a little extra.
find a local co-op to purchase produce from. amazing way to put healthy food on the table at a fraction of the price and it supports your local community as co ops purchase local first.
FLYERS - I read my newspaper flyers each week, taking note of which retailers offer the best price for what I need (it helps eliminate impulse buys). I mark the store & price on my grocery list, it helps me make sure I get the correct price at the till.

FREECYCLE.ORG !!! Give stuff and get stuff and keep stuff out of landfills while you are at it!!!
Trade clothes, toys, books, etc with friends when your children are bored with them. Swap nights watching the kids instead of paying for a sitter. Enlist family members to watch your kids occasionally - they will do it for free most of the time!
I buy my kids clothes on craigslist. I buy their toys, bikes, etc. all from this website. You can always bargain and you can also recycle after they are done with it.
