Mom. Education in my house didn't stop at school. Thanks to my mom, I learned to knit, sew and cook. And yeah, it was mom that helped me realize I can do anything I put my mind to.

Savy I commented on December 26, 2012 - my theacher Mrs.McCandless made me appriciate school n education in elementary but now im in middle school n dont have a teacher to tell me that what should i do?

Mom. Education in my house didn't stop at school. Thanks to my mom, I learned to knit, sew and cook. And yeah, it was mom that helped me realize I can do anything I put my mind to.

Mrs. Kurtz - the school librarian. I was always being sent to the library because I would finish my work early. She suggested books, discussed them with me, and and just generally enriched my life. It was the librarian that made school worthwhile.

Mr. Katz (1yr U.S.H. 1yr AP clalc BC) ... His in my last report card he said something along the lines of "no longer interrupts class with off-topic distractions, instead interrupts class with ON-topic distractions."

Sister Dorathea; in sixth grade. She was the most understanding nun at the school, approachable, and taught with such passion. She was so hard on us but I learned a lot from life, studies, and how to be a better person. She was so awesome. God bless her.

My junior infants teacher RIP. She always smiled, she wore lovely sweet perfume and a flower in her jacket. Thinking back now I realise she was ahead of her time (this was 1966!!!) She taught us so much stuff that I still remember to this day.

Mrs. Baker for 9th grade Honors English. She's the reason I chose teaching as my profession. She always supported me and we always chatted whenever there was a chance. I was her unofficial TA for over a semester at the start of my high school years.

Professor Dick Richardson. He taught me to argue my point, teachers aren't always right. At least I learned that sometime, but too bad it wasn't until college.

Ms. Mokes, My 7th grade english teacher. I was having problems in school and falling behind on my grades. She saw the potential in me and pushed me so hard so i wouldnt fail her class while every other teacher had given up on me. She really believed in me

Mrs. Yoder, 4th grade in Kalona, Iowa. She was the first teacher to notice (care?) that I missed so much school. She encouraged my artistic ability, thanks to her I discovered drama in high school which was literally a lifesaver during my teen years.

Mr. Pennington, my high school band instructor. There were 300 kids in band, and he knew everyone's name, their story, and their problems. Was available to us anytime, and had such passion. Still go to visit sometimes...

Ms. Curry, my nursery school teacher, always let me ride the new shiny tricycle...lol plus tracked me through my educational years all the wat through college even through grad school! Way to go Ms. Curry....U Rock!

Rebecca Wolle. Sixth grade was a rough year: the transition to real grades and real deadlines was rough and I was getting D's. She believed in me and challenged me, and helped me turn it around. I got A's from then on.

My 5th grade teacher Mrs Phillips - she taught me to truly love reading books. I can name at least 6 books we read in her class that year and I know there were more. She taught us to look for ourselves in the characters and make them our own.

And Mr Curry, my H.S. U.S. History Teacher made sure a bunch of rural Northern AZ white kids knew all about the Holocaust & Civil Rights struggles throughout history so that we wouldn't go out in the world too ignorant. Very grateful.

Two actually. Mrs Shirley, my 6th grade teacher, was a world traveler and would show us slides of her world travels and tie it into her lessons. Looking back, I realize what a treasure she was and how fortunate we were.

Mrs. Ballou. She was a special education teacher that let me come into her room to take tests. She understood that the word test put me into a frenzy. She also helped me study. To this day she still helps me with little things.

Mr. Pelazini, 3rd grade... I think because my parents were going though a divorce at the time .So I looked up to him plus that he was the only teacher that took his class out to exercise every single day...boy was he smart!!

My favorite teacher was Mr. Johnson, my high school English teacher. He challenged each of us to become better students and people. He always made himself available for his students. I wish I knew if he is still alive so I could say thank you.

My English Lit Prof in College. She never talked down to us. She talked to us as though we were on her level, although she was brilliant and we were just freshman. She had such passion and joy that I never missed class.

Mrs. Shumaker, 3rd grade. She was hard on me. When I broke down in tears and asked why she was so much harder on me than everyone else, she said beacuse she knew I could do it. She expected more from me and I love her for it.

Mrs. Cork my high school band teacher who always smiled and was always in a good mood. She always had faith in me and would talk to me after school about some issues I was having at home.

Mr. Baker. He taught algebra 3 and 4 in Highschool. If I had a problem with a question he was always available if he didn't have a class. He also was someone who you could talk to about life. He was by far my fav teacher.

I had this teacher in High School. Mrs G. We were very close. I call her MOM. And when I was a Junior she told me she had cancer. I started to go to her first few chemotherapy treatments. We still go out and have lunch after 9 years of me graduating.....
