Yolanda R commented on October 24, 2009 - Also, if a cop happens to drive by and sees the child alone whether in a car seat or loose in the car and he is not old enough to be alone, you will have to deal with child wealfare and that may be one nightmare you want to avoid, like loosing your child.

Melissa L commented on October 24, 2009 - Ok so you have the kid in a car seat carrier, you put the carrier down to punch in the your pin, big bad guy grabs the handle and runs off with your child. You may think you can keep your eye on you child 24/7., but lets be real here, you don't.
Layla F commented on October 24, 2009 - Car seats have to be in the back seat, facing backward... choking is as much of an issue when driving. There's only so much you can do. Just have to use your VERY BEST judgment in any given situation... considering temp, locale, time, distance, etc.
Pam F commented on October 24, 2009 - I think they are safer in a car you can SEE with locked doors than out with you while you're trying to juggle atm card/credit card etc. not paying as much attention to your child and them running off. If you can see them & the car is locked they're safer
Jana S commented on October 24, 2009 - By that logic, you should never leave your kid alone anywhere - even in the next room. They could choke if you leave them out of your sight anywhere for 30 seconds. It's just not realistic - or healthy I might add to hover over children to that extent.

Araceli T commented on October 24, 2009 - Interesting!...#1 priority should be for the safety of the children. Just take a moment to think before you leave your child in the care...he/she is looking at mom/dad walking away far away. a moment to an adult is a long time for a kid. best wishes.

- I think a lot of us will agree that when we say we would leave our kids in the car would be in a 100% safe situation, with the car turned off, no extreme heat or cold conditions, with a clear view of the vehicle, locked & to do something that takes 2 mnts

- I have 3 kids, there's more risk in doing the ATM with all of them since they start to scatter and I have to look at the ATM versus being 5 ft away from the car and they all are in car seats and I can do everything in 2 minutes without losing sight of car

Absolutely NOT. One moment of convenience could mean a lifetime of regret. Is that really worth the risk?

I cannot condemn or condone people for what they do because I (nor you) have any right to judge ANYONE, but if people are so worried about sex offenders why are they not fighting to give them harder punishment, like the death penalty.
