In 1956, living in harmony with nature and good health was not in vogue, but my favorite safe nontoxic biodegradable cleaners and personal care products were showing folks how to do just that. Thanks to Shaklee for keeping our family healthy for 37 years

Dani A commented on July 15, 2010 - No, they are not green, natural or safe. What.. they have 2 products that are organic and they are crackers!! Poison Control doesn't even have MSDS on the cleaning supplies but if you actually read the labels it clearly states "Harmful if swallowed."

I'll second the baking soda, and add vinegar. It cleans great and kills germs as well as bleach. But the best is: no products! Buy less stuff; you can't buy your way to "green."

Dani A commented on March 1, 2010 - Evelyn, you have NO idea what you are talking about. Melaleuca does use toxic products and petrochemicals. Check for yourself. Trust me, I have extensive research to prove it!! Melaleuca is crap!

Joy B commented on March 1, 2010 - All science is not bad; all nature is not good (arsenic) - It's called balance. Melaleuca is totally committed to totally safe products.

Dani A commented on March 1, 2010 - What a joke that is! If it was true, then Melaleuca would disclose 100% of their ingredients. 7th Generation discloses all of theirs. I would say that 7th is committed to saving the environment!

Jodi P commented on March 1, 2010 - Melaeuca has "fragrance"--man made fragrance is some of the most toxic stuff out there. Melaleuca has "caution" labels on its products. Melaleuca has preservatives....again, not so natural. While it may be better than some, it still isn't totally green

Jodi P commented on March 1, 2010 - Let's add to that that my children are chemically sensitive and melalueca causes them to react...I get the whole arsenic thing, but really, you can't drink melalueca cleaners--you could drink Dr. Bronner's or baking soda or lemon juice or vinegar.

Jodi P commented on March 1, 2010 - And finally, doesn't "natural" mean Natural...versus man made? When Melaleuca is willing to disclose what "fragrance", "preservative", "solvents", "surfactant", and solubilizer really is then I might believe your claims.. Really, define "safe"

Dani A commented on March 1, 2010 - Couldn't have said it better myself. It's also a known "chemical fact" that 95% of solvents contain Mercury. Let's just add to our toxic load. Better yet Joy, why don't you ask Melaleuca for the MSDS on each of the cleaning products.

Sally L commented on July 12, 2010 - Mela has a product line & discloses all ingredients. Their fragrances are natural, most from fruit. It is a registered pharma company so it has to label SALT, sodium chloride & LEMON JUICE as citric acid. Why are you so ANTI-Melaleuca? solvent? Mela oil.

One thing to watch for in products is parabens. That is being linked to breast cancer. There is a shampoo and conditioner I have used & you can buy it at Rite Aid or Target, it's called "Say Yes to Carrots". "Origins" has great face products.

Dawn K commented on March 1, 2010 - There are loads of scientific evidence that parabens are cancer causing. Do the research!

Dani A commented on March 2, 2010 - Dawn, I have done extensive research on Parbens. Parabens are used to kill bacteria in water-based solutions, they inherently have some toxicity to cells.

Dani A commented on March 2, 2010 - Parbens are known endocrine disruptors. They cause reproductive toxicity, immunotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and skin irritation.

Dani A commented on March 2, 2010 - What's important about the study with Breast Cancer Tumors and Parben is because it detected the presence of intact parabens – unaltered by the body’s metabolism – which is an indication of the chemicals.

I use Melaleuca products. They are work great and are natural and enviromentally (and kid) friendly. www.livetotalwellness.com/joycita

Dani A commented on April 21, 2010 - They aren't natural or environmentally or kid friendly for that matter. Oh, unless you call dumping 15 tons of their own vitamins into a landfill. Yay for pollution! Not to mention our drinking water supply.

In reading all of the solutions I find it overwhelming but joyful that we are taking time to now read what's in our cleaners. I have cleaned for over 28 years professionally and hands down on Shaklee, baking soda, and white vinegar. I can help you out(<:

I love Arbonne's products & would not use anything else. They're all botanically based, pH correct, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested, never tested on animals, formulated without animal products or by-products, mineral oil, dyes or chemical fragrances

Bennies mom commented on March 3, 2010 - Arbonne has quanternium 15 in their baby products purchaser be aware! That is a form of formaldehyde.

The Nesting Pillow and Nest Egg from BlessedNest.com. They are awesome. Although they have MANY uses, they are the best nursing pillows out there. They made with organic fabric & are filled with organic buckwheat hulls.

I am in favor of Aloette Products - they are Aloe Vera Based which heals the body 61 times faster than the body can heal itself. It is Medical Grade Skin Care which means penetrates all the way to the bottom layers of the skin. lambaker@aol.com

I buy from a coop most of my organic food. I grow my own and am getting the garden ready for planting. I want to sustain my family as much as possible. It is too hard to find organic no soy or gmo fed well raised nutrient dense food I like path to freedom

NORWEX cleaning cloths. They use nothing but WATER to clean everything! With silver sewn into the cloths they are naturally antibacterial. They never smell since the germs are killed inside the cloths and require washing only once every 2 weeks!
