Statues-the one that kids were whirled around by one child, let go and had to freeze in that position. The child then judged the best statue and that one got to whirl.

Barbara K commented on February 3, 2010 - A bunch of us kids grew up next to a graveyard, so that was a staple game played at night! As well as Flashlight tag, and Seek and go Hide...a reverse game of the original.

Sheila O commented on January 30, 2010 - This was played in a circle. The person with the handkerchief walked around the circle and would then drop the handkerchief behind one of the people and they would run in opposite directions to see who could get to the empty spot first. Last one is it.

My family played a game we called flashlight tag and we still play it now, and I'm 27. When the sun goes down the person "it" gets the light and has to find everyone else. It helps small kids not be afraid of the dark cause they team up with another.

Any one ever just lay on the lawn looking up at the big white fluffy clouds moving by, and identify the different shapes the clouds looked like, ie: dog, dragon, elephant, etc.

I come from a large extended family so when we got together at Christmas or during the summer we played at least one game of monopoly. We are all grown now, I am in my 50's, when time allows we still do. It has become a tradition our children carry on.

Cats Cradle...Not necesarily a "game" persay but definately fun. we would play with 2 or more people and keep grabbing and twisting the yarn/string/rope until someone got it in a knot.

Remember Jacks, red ball and different colored metal jacks, had to toss the ball up and while it was in the air, pick up jacks and catch ball after it bounced once...we would play all day, onezies, twozies, I have small hands couldn't do more.
