Deb H commented on June 15, 2010 - I can remember Freeze tag on our front lawn and hide & seek at dusk, the lamp post was the base, as soon as the street lights came on we had to go inside, but if we begged enough we got to stay longer. Can't remember the jump rope rhymes either.

The memory game. Turn all of the cards upside down and then match pairs. For really young kids, we use just a few cards or purchase the memory game made for toddlers.

Statues-the one that kids were whirled around by one child, let go and had to freeze in that position. The child then judged the best statue and that one got to whirl.

neighborhood game of Baseball. A lot different than nowadays with organized teams. Also Jump Rope and all the rhymes we jumped to. And hand-clapping rhymes.

We were big bike riders...Played CHIPS from the t.v. series and played our bikes were cars.... We spent most of our time on our bikes

My family played a game we called flashlight tag and we still play it now, and I'm 27. When the sun goes down the person "it" gets the light and has to find everyone else. It helps small kids not be afraid of the dark cause they team up with another.

Dark shadows..thats what my 6 year old son calls it. he means playing with nerf guns. he has every one ever made. he says that every kid should have a nerf gun and play dark shadows.lol

Any one ever just lay on the lawn looking up at the big white fluffy clouds moving by, and identify the different shapes the clouds looked like, ie: dog, dragon, elephant, etc.

I come from a large extended family so when we got together at Christmas or during the summer we played at least one game of monopoly. We are all grown now, I am in my 50's, when time allows we still do. It has become a tradition our children carry on.

We played Mother May I, Kick the Can, I Need A Wave (anyone remember that one?) Run Sheep Run, Statues...boy, I miss the old days and Night Games! Ooh, Ghost in the Graveyard too!
