While I totally agree with Tara W., I have to add that it's whatever car your family is in! :) Ok... to mention literally the best family vehicle we've ever had? HONDA ODYSSEY by far!! They've put the family's safety & needs in a classy package!

Where I live in the midwest, you really can't beat my Dodge Caravan -automatic sliding doors and hatch, heated leather seats for cold mornings, stow and go, and a built in DVD player for Elmo, Dora, and Barney videos. Compared to a big SUV gas is great.

Our family car is an old Toyota Camry wagon with a third row. With 3 kids it works great, and we have 2 extra seats, or lots of extra space when we need it. The Honda Odyssey and Pilot we tempting, but the wagon has better gas mileage and is cheaper.

My Ford F-150 Crew Cab. I love that truck. Before we purchased this one I drove a '79 F-150 extended cab. I can keep my family AND haul any large item I want, no drop offs, reconfig seats, I'm done in one trip. And I don't have to stay on the beaten path.

Mazda 5. For the price, it's a great choice. Of course, my first choice would have been either the Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey.

Toyota Sienna!!! It's nice looking, has more storage than the Highlander we traded it for, and has automatic sliding doors - which are ideal for kids!! It's easy to drive and has various options/features to choose from...plus it has 8 seats!

Our family car is neither a minivan or an SUV, it's a Kia Rondo. It's the roomiest car we've ever owned (not to mention best $). Headroom makes it easy for adults to peek in and out getting kids in the carseats, even the largest of which fit comfortably.

I have had Dodge Caravans and have been happy with them. My next vehicle will be a mini-van. Votes look the most for the Sienna and the Odyssey, but I am surprised I have not seen anyone mention the Nissan Quest. Anyone have thoughts on the Quest?

Suzuki XL-7- 3rd Row stow n Go seats, built in dvd player, heated front seats, EXCELLENT warranty, great gas mileage, not too many on the road- one of a kind!!, sleek, stylish and affordable. We bought ours brand new for $22,000 fully loaded.

Love love love my Chevy Impala. Unfortunately, with the law requiring my kids be in a car seat until they are 8 (for heaven's sake), three car seats make it impossible for my 5 year old to buckle herself. So we are planning on getting a Toyota Sequoia.

I've been in the shop way 2 many times w/my Chrysler T&C, I love it! If it didn't hv the small prob of being made in the US by a co that didn't build to last, I'd keep it forever. As it goes, I'll keep it as long as it runs. It's a perfect design 4 Moms!

I agree with all of the moms who own a minivan. There is no vehicle more practical to raise a family in. I love my Toyota Sienna. It is great on gas and a true value in this struggling economy, without sacrificing luxuries that make a car a joy to drive.

Beth commented on January 19, 2010 - I disagree, with the new "crossovers" (many which really are just revamped wagons) you get lots of room, great handling and super gas mileage. Go Toyota Matrix!

I'm a stay-at-home mom and plus, baby-sitter of 3 kids! So, I had to upgrade from a Saturn sedan 2 a SUV! I got a 99 Dodge Durango! LOVE the 3rd row! I have all the kids in the back. So, this SUV is AWESOME! Love it!

VW Routan....it's a Chrysler/VW collaboration(so at least it's somewhat American made) but handles "tighter' like a German car would---felt better to drive than the Odyssey. TONS of space and features. Love the remote start and entertainment pckg.

We have had 2 Ford Windstar's and a Ford Freestar~~love them, plenty of room and American made to boot!! Got the leather seats with this one and will never go back to cloth, so much easier to clean with kids!!

The feature I've come to appreciate it the split fold down seats in the rear of my Saab. Way too many times I've had boxes to take home that are too long for my trunk. But I can lay two thirds of the seat flat and still haul baby!

I LOVE my Lexus LX470. PLENTY of room. 2nd & 3rd row seats 3 across, and lots of trunk space. Even after I put my stroller in I still have lots of trunk space. Navigation, DVD, etc, UltraPlush! Even gets GREAT gas mileage compared to my Volvo XC90. A++

I love love love my Odyssey!!!! It's the best car I ever owned. Soooo comfy for me and my kids just love it too. I have a 1, 4 and 6 year old. It's easy to load the baby and the big kids have no trouble getting in and buckled by themselves.

Honda Pilot - I have owned my faithful Honda Pilot since 2004 and it has had no major services. It stores a lot when the kids are in & out of the car. It holds up to 8 people with the 3rd row. I would change the back hatch door, with a opening window.

Just bought a new Chrysler Town & Country that has the stow and go. Holds 7 people comfortably and has ton of storage. All the seats fold down and you can load it full of whatever. Just fit 3 doors, 14 studs & 2 sheets of sheetrock in it in one trip!

My twelve year old Subaru Legacy wagon. My mechanic says it has at least another twelve good years left, even though it's been rear ended three times and sideswiped once, and is covered with dents, dings, and dirt. It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!

Even though there some type of stigma against the mini van, I have to say our 03' Honda Odessey is the tops. With loads of room (with the seats out the space rivals that of my truck) and space for seven this V6 can take us anywhere there is blacktop.

I love the GMC Acadia! It has seating for 7 w/ the middle row having captains chairs. We have the DVD system, remote start, heated front leather seats and I can open the back hatch w/ a button on my key fob. The 3rd row lays down flat fast & easy.
