I like to give a great book and a money card. One of my favorites is "Ten Things I Wish I'd Known Before I Went Out into the Real World" by Maria Shriver.

Mum4ever♫ commented on September 6, 2010 - Another great book is "The Places You'll Go" by Shel Silverstein. Then take the time to personalize the inside cover, which is full of roads going every which way, and write in all their accomplishmnets, places they've lived, activities they've enjoyed.

Remove My Profile commented on October 26, 2010 - I was given enough money at high school graduation to do what I really wanted, buy a good camera and study photography. Cutesy gifts are more for the person buying them and less for the recipient. The Bible is a good choice as well.

"Oh, the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss! It's a great, classic book, full of truth, and you can stick a gift card inside the front cover and write in a personal note!

When I graduated high school in 2000 I got a car for keeping my nose clean, maintaining good grades, achieving a scholarship, and not causing my parents grief in my teenage years. I thought that was pretty awesome!!

I'm giving a white topaz pendant necklace to my girl. It's a gemstone that looks like a diamond, but it's lab created so no guilt about wearing a blood diamond.

A One Trip Tote! Gave to both of my babysitters when they graduated. The tote is a LARGE, open, beautiful carryall that they use to gather everything they need for the day & go out the door. Great for laundry & weekend trips home! www.onetriptote.com

Samantha P commented on December 30, 2010 - I have a tote like this and LOVE it, but there is more selection variety with Thirty One (home party company). There are a variety of sizes and designs.

I had cozy, fleece blankets embroidered with the name of the kids college, year of graduation and their name in their school colors for my daughter's college-bound friends.

Depends on the kid. My niece wants to "get out of town." How could I not get her a piece of luggage?

It depends on who the gift is for. I think for a girl a nice piece of jewelry is always something special. For a boy who is a sports fan an autographed piece by their favorite player
