My daughter is enrolled in Intermediate Ballet and I am very happy that she is able to continue her classes with Ms. Mwenja. Besides from being a professional teacher, she approaches students with a maternal sensitivity, which makes the students feel at ease and confident.

We are lucky to have such a wonderful teacher!

My seven year old daughter adores the creative movement classes. She was very shy about joining in at first but Cynthia has a gift for making everyone feel instantly comfortable. Now my daughter just jumps right in. She has learned many graceful movements and has a great time!

I have been taking class from Magic City Ballet for about 1 month, since it has open and I have had the best experience. I have never taken Ballet but the movements are fun to do. I enjoy every minute.

I am a student at Magic City Ballet, and I absolutely love it!

Our teacher really focuses on the fundamentals on ballet and she creates an open environment where I am not scared to ask questions or even laugh!

I think some schools worry too much about the aesthetics of the school, instead of the execution of the dance, which Ms. Mwenja seems to gracefully understand and apply.

I'm very excited to continue to develop as a dancer under Ms. Mwenja's guiding eye.

Magic City Ballet is wonderfully nurturing dance academy located in Irondale at Devyani Dance Center. Director, Cynthia Mwenja, is a highly skilled and talented teacher with a strong background in solid dance technique as well as many years experience as an administrator at the elementary and middle school level. Her calm and compassionate approach to children and dancing is admirable. My highly spirited 8 year old daughter loves the Creative Movement classes and is very enthusiastic about attending them every week. The adult ballet classes are challenging yet not overwhelming. The dedication to bringing the joy of dance to people of all ages and body types is a welcome change in the current climate of body-image specific dance in the western classical tradition. I highly recommend Magic City Ballet to anyone seeking dance classes or looking for a new approach to movement.
