Your Input on Golden Rule Health Insurance

I am looking into getting a new health insurance policy and have gotten a quote from the local Farmers Insurance office that seems very reasonable. The insurance would be provided by Golden Rule Insurance Company and is a HSA type insurance. Does anyone have any experience with claims or customer service with Golden Rule? Thanks for any input.

I currently have Golden Rule for myself. I have not had any problems with it yet. I even had a MAJOR surgery (craniotomy) performed at Johns Hopkins Hospital and it was covered no problems. I wouldn't recommend this insurance if you need maternity though. The coverage stinks for that. Good luck!

My youngest dtr had that insurance. She was in ICU for 3 days and they cancelled on her. They didn't cover any of her 6 day hospital stay. The company she is with now is American Community. The agent is Tim Gibson ###-###-####.

We ended up getting it for our daughter. It was cheaper than adding her to either my insurance plan or my husband's (we have separate insurance because it's cheaper through our work plans, too). We haven't had any major health problems, thank God, but it's been fine for us for regular well visits. Good luck!

I have not used it but I recently talked to a insurance agent and they suggested it for my oldest daughter (18) But they way they describled it was a short-term policy b/c she is joining the Air Force this fall. For the rest of my family they suggested World Kansas (I'm on the Kansas side so I don't know if it covers in MO) That would be a question for him, his name is Jason Dover, Licensed Master Insurance Broker, American Insurance ,###-###-####. It won't hurt to talk to him & he's very informative w/o being pushy.

We had Golden Rule (spouse & I) from 2000-2002 and had no problems with them. As I recall, my husband even had kidney stones during that time, and had to have the procedure to get rid of them. There were no hassles and the hospital took the insurance. I didn't have any problems either at my regular doctor appointments. You might chek with you state's insurance commissioner to see if they've had any complaints.

We used Golden Rule while waiting for my husband's insurance at a new job to kick in. It is administered by United Healthcare and uses their networks. I thought it was great. We had the 100% preventive package, and they even paid the well child claims from my son's out-of-network doctor! If they had maternity coverage, we would still have Golden Rule instead of my husband's group plan. I highly recommend them!

S., My son has Golden Rule and has had it since he was born. It was cheaper to have him on his own policy than to add him on to either of our company policies. I pay about $175 every month and haven't had any 'problems' (knock on wood) with them so far. He has a $500 dedutctable and they paid for all well-baby visits. I think the only thing I've had to pay for was his nebulizer.
