You Have to See This.

I like most mothers is concerned about the future of my children. I just saw "An Inconvenient Truth" You all have to see this. We need to step up and do all we can to ensure the future of our children and grandchildren. This is the one danger in our world that affects every body. Please watch this dvd or if you have digital cable you can order it on demmand. There are a few websites you can go to for better understanding of this potential disaster.
They are http://www.stopglobalwarming.org and http://www.fightglobalwarming.org.
I know we all live in the real world and we need our vehicles and we need to fly but there are things we can all do to change it.
Ladies the future is in our hands, lets make a difference. This is not something that will go away if we turn a blind eye to it.

What can I do next?

Adriana,
First of all, I did not go to the links you posted. However, I do feel the need to respond. A lot of the global warming information is based on junk science. It is true that the earth is getting warmer, but the science is not in any way conclusive if we, the human race, is contributing in any substantial way. 30-40 years ago, the crazed sensationalist media and liberal left had the country thinking that we were entering into a new ice age and that the ice cap was going to be covering MN, up to Iowa's border by this time. Now Al Gore, the self-proclaimed Mr. Environmentalist, says Florida will be under water in 50 years. Right. It is a known scientific fact that the earth goes through natural warming and cooling cycles- it has since its history and long before we ever introduced CFCs and other potentially dangerous environmental hazards. The ozone, in spots, has been consistently opening and closing, so the science is also out on that as well. Bottom line is that it is important to check your sources and not to buy into the very liberal propaganda. I am 100% for teaching our kids the importance of environmental awareness, conserving energy and exploring renewable resources while preserving the precious limited resources that have been exploited for way too long. We all need to do what we can to make this earth a better place, but use common sense, don't be a hypocrite; be praticle and start local by buying form your co-op, cleaning up a highway, re-using your Target and Cub bags and make our homes as energy efficient as practicle. Also, try to avoid the sensationalism that the drive-by media jams down our throats and stop perpetuating the frenzy by disseminating this ultra-one sided "science".

Thanks, Adriana for your posting. I don't need to get into a debate, but needless to say, it's unfortunate that Rebecca didn't go to the links you provided or watch the movie. If she did, she would see that global warming is most definitely not "junk science." We should all do more to stop global warming, and it starts with awareness! It's so important that we do as much as we can to make this planet better for our children...

Hello Adriana and responders,

For the record, Adriana, I agree with you on the global warming issue, and I think that's an important point to remember as you read the rest of this post.

Let's keep our social and political opinions off this site. The great thing about Mamasource is that you can get a variety of opinions from other women who you might have little in common with other than that we're all moms. There are also great sites out there for us to discuss the social and political implications of mothering (which I realize, Adriana, was your good intention), but Mamasource isn't one of them.

Adriana, I really hope I haven't offended you, because like I said, I agree with your position and your intentions are good. Just think how we would feel if we had opened up Mamasource email and read a post attempting to discredit the movie you saw and the global warming issue.

Just my two cents. Have a good day mamas -- let's go hug our little ones.

A.
