I am finally wanting to do something for me!! I am having a hard time trying to find time to excerise. I have 2 sons how don't let me sit down for a minute while they are up. I have recently found interest in doing yoga--except I don't know a thing about it. I bought my first yoga tape called AM/PM Yoga with Rodney Yee. I did it for the first time this morning and I really like it. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on a good begginers yoga tape. I really want to get my body back into shape but I just don't have the time. I figured maybe if I work out at home that could help a little. I'm still trying to find time to even work out during the day. My youngest son goes down for a nap at 1 pm but by the time that comes I am exhausted from all the morning stress of having two boys going through the wonderful terrible 2s!!! So I'm stressed, exhausted, and (what I would say, but my husband disgarees) in need to lose weight. I eat healthy and the boys keep me active thats why I stay at the same weight but I need to lose it now. So if any moms are experiencing or experienced what I am going throught I would greatly appreciate some advice and also some knowlegde of a good begginers yoga work out.

What can I do next?

Hey!
My hubby bought me "Yoga-Booty Ballet" for my b-day. It has 5 cd's and a beginner's course. It combines hip-hop and yoga for a great workout. I have a 2 year old and a 6 year old. I usually do my workouts 3 days a week while the 2 year old naps. You can find the cd's by doing a websearch on the internet!

Hi A.! I too have been going through that getting back into shape and loosing weight phase. I have not tried Yoga, but I just recently bought the Turbo Jam dvd's, I started last Thursday and so far I LOVE it. It is so fun, it really helps increase your energy, and it comes with 2 dvd's and they have a 20 minute workout all the way up to a 45 minute workout, with other workouts specifically to target your abs and bunns.
If you're interested try going to QVC.com, you can find the dvd's there for about 20 bucks cheaper than if you go to the Turbo Jam website! Good Luck!

Yoga is great, especially for stretching. I would recommend doing a good beginners yoga tape-maybe something from Crunch fitness a couple times a week, and then get a really good cardio/fat burning workout that you can do as well. I love turbo jam and Jillian Michaels' DVDs. The yoga is great for helping you relax and get reconnected with just you, but most yoga tapes are not going to get your heart rate up to where it needs to be to actually lose weight. You might be able to find like a power yoga tape to do that will help boost your heart rate. I recommend morning exercise. Get up about 30-45 minutes before your kids will and do your workout. You might be a little extra tired for the first couple of days, however you will find that your energy level will soon increase and you will actually have more energy over the course of the day to chase after your little ones.

Hi, I love that Yoga DVD! I have a few more by Rodney Yee and love them all. He's great. I love the Living Arts yoga as well as the Yoga Zone DVD's. If you go to http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com you can find a lot of their videos for a great price plus free shipping. They usually beat Amazon, not always, but usually. I also like the Kathy Smith set. You start with an easier one and then can work your way up. Once you really get going, you'll want the Power Yoga series with Bryan Kest...I still haven't done the Sweat one that he has...they are pretty tough, but he doesn't make you feel like giving up. I know that Baron Baptiste is popular, but I didn't like his very well. It didn't flow and felt really choppy to me. I have a huge exercise video collection and those are my favorites for Yoga. If you want to see clips of videos go to http://www.collagevideo.com/. Their website is the best for finding what's out there, just not always at good prices. ;o(
Hope that helps!

Hey, Have you thought about looking for a tape that you and the boys could do together. I know that Elmo has a tape and there are lots of others. That would give you a good workout AND keep the boys out of trouble while you are doing it. Good luck. Working out at home is hard but it is a lot of fun when you can do it with your kiddos.

We recently released a yoga video that is great for parents and toddlers - and the parent section continues to work even when your children are no longer toddlers, or before they reach it.
It is called TOT YOGA and you can find it online at http://totyoga.com and amazon.com or at retailers in NY and DC.

Hi A.:
Most of us can identify with you - by the time we get around to exercising we are too tired to do it - and getting up any earlier than we do seems impossible! But I have found some nutritional products that give me more energy (I actually wake before my alarm now) and they build lean muscle mass and help loose any unwanted pounds and inches. (They also have a kid's line too!) I now sleep better, have less stress, have better mental focus and have lost 25 pounds & 14 inches (8 pounds my first week!)

As for exercising, I haven't tried yoga but get a great workout with Leslie Sansone's walking cds - you can do them at home and your son's may like dancing around with you You can start with a 1-2 mile cd in 30 minutes and work up to 4 miles that takes 50 minutes. Great cardio workout that is FUN!

Good luck to you and I hope you get the answers you are seeking! Will be glad to share more info with you - if you want to see why so many of us have trouble losing weight look at www.DrSpeaksOut.com.

Blessings,
E., RN
