My son recently had yeast, he is one, and the doctor told me to use yeast infection cream, it was called Nystatin, cleared it right up.

Be careful with the yogurt - she may be too young and you don't want to mess with her digestive enzymes that way - I got fussed at by my brother (a nurse) when I fed yogurt to my son when he was 4 months old and got thrash. a light dust of athlete's foot powder mixed with equal parts corn starch may do the trick - thats what I used. Also, try to keep her in dry diapers as the moisture creates an environment which yeasts thrive.

Hello, M.. In my expereinces with 'yeasty-rashes,' I put plain yogurt on them and they disappear! All three of my babies have had one of these rashes at some point. I put the plain yogurt on and it is usually gone in 1-2 treatments. We all know how important it is to eat yogurt when we have a yeast infection as an adult, right? It's the same principle, the live active cultures eliminate the yeast. Try it and let me know if it works.

When my little girls had this, I put monistat on it. WORKED PERFECTLY! They CONSTANTLY had problems due to ear infections and antibiotics. It's safe and effective. Walmart has a store brand that is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper and works just as well. The 3 or 7 day treatment is fine - both work fine.

over- cleaning can cause this, try a bath with only warm water-no soap, wipes that have no alcohol or fragrance, unscented diapers? this is if you are talking about a vaginal yeast infection, if you are talking about thrush(the one in the mouth of newborns) then i have no idea

Hi M.,

Yes, I am familiar with this. My baby girl Eva would and still does get these quite frequently. At first it was very startling to me. However, my Dr. has assured us that it is quite common for baby girls and baby boys. Although, my son never had one. I will pump up the active yogart in her diet at the first onset. Plus, I always keep Monostat in the cabinet.

Keep in mind, it is hard to tell the difference between a diaper rash and yeast infection. If I was unsure, I would use the diaper rash ointment for about 24 hours, if I did not notice a difference then I switch to Monostat.

Just don't be alarmed. My daughter is very sensitive and would get a yeast rash with just about every antibiotic perscription. However, now at age 4 she does not get them near as often. Although she does still get them occassionally.

Also, I don't and do not recommend using any of the insert supplies or method. I just simply wipe a little on her privates. Usually the symptoms will go away within about 2 days, then I still apply it for at least one more day.

As always, get feed back from your doctor as well. I just wanted you to know that is it not uncommon.

Good Luck!

My son had them as a baby, but I think it is different with a boy. Until I had him I didn't even know that boys could get them. His doctor gave him creams... L.

My 18 month old had one a month ago and it brought me to tears. there is an over the counter cream called Clotrimazole and it is used for athletes foot. it is an anti-fungal cream. put it on her and then put the balmex over it. I swear after one application it helped!
