after 20 days of antibiotics... my daughter popped out the worst looking yeast infection tonight. She is SO red and itchy. She can't even put her legs together and is just sitting here crying, the poor thing!

I put her in a baking soda warm bath and put 1% hydrocortisone cream on her... that's all I have here.

What else can I use to help her be more comfortable?

I called the nurse on call and she said to put a baking soda paste on her and call the Dr in the morning... lots of help.. I put the baking soda paste on and she started screaming and said it hurt, so we washed that off and just put the hydrocortisone cream back on.

So... now Im turning to you... again :)

I really can't wait to get my healthy happy baby girl back!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ina... I asked them about that because that is what I used with the boys when they got one and they told me do not put that on her it would make it more painful plus it couldn't be used on girls.... thank you though! I thought the same thing :)

call and ask the dr for a prescription of nystatin. That is what my kids get if they had one when they were younger. I am just assuming it would help a 3yr old also

She needs vagisil or monistat! Im grown and when I get a bad one I want to curl in a ball and cry! If she's red when you put one of the ointments on it may burn but it will just for a minute. Then it will numb it. Or you can get a cold pack and wrap it in soft toilet paper and let her sit on it. Sitting in water makes mine hurt worse. You go or have someone go get one of those creams to soothe her and make sure you call the doc. Poor baby!

Yogurt might help. Definitely have her eat some. I have heard you can use plain yogurt directly on the rash but haven't tired it myself (messy but probably won't hurt since it is food). There are plenty of over the counter yeast creams and treatments at the drug store. Good luck.

When my DD was a baby and had a yeast infection the doctor told me to just use OTC antifungal cream (1% clotrimazole) on it. Works like a charm.

oh poor thing :( that is so uncomfortable even for a grown woman! i have put clotrimazole and miconazole cream on both my girls bottoms when they have gotten yeast based diaper rashes before. i rub it in and let it dry, then cover it with desitin. it has helped, and i have never noticed any adverse reactions. oh, i hope she feels better soon!

Get acidophilus, STAT! I never take antibiotics without taking that as well. It will help restore her body's natural balance.

There used to be an oatmeal bath for babies that is good for chicken pox, poison ivy--whatever itching or feel bad thing there is out there, it was/is good to soak in. I think it's by AVEENO. Or you can put cornstarch in some mildly warm water; that will bathe down there too.

One thing we're never, ever told by the allopathic doctors--and I had to learn the hard way, both myself and with my own doctor--is that whenever you take an antibiotic, you ALWAYS take a probiotic with it. In fact, my daughter and I take a probiotic every single day. My daughter is 12 years old and I give her Floragen3. She swallows pills; you can open it up and put it on your daughter's favorite food, if she can't swallow pills. She will probably need to take probiotics for a couple months after she's done with her antibiotics, to get her gut back to where it should be with the good bacteria.

I found a new natural/holistic medicine to use "down there" that takes care of bacteria, fungus, and yeast issues. You have to order it from the Internet. It's called Femmesil, and is an all natural feminine relief cream. It doesn't say it can't be used for children. You can purchase it from www.aidance.com. I actually use it for feminine itching if I inadvertently consume gluten (yes, food allergies/intolerances CAN make you itch down there, and it looks and feels like a yeast infection but isn't). It should take away the itching and clear up the yeast infection in 1-3 days. The only caution I have is that the minerals used are a gray color, and it will stain your underwear, so you'll want to promise her new underwear when she's done using the product.

Femmesil, to me, is an absolute livesaver! It contains no steroids, parabens, or artificial ingredients. These are the ingredients: jojoba seed oil, organic beeswax, zinc oxide, volcanic clay (betonite), silver oxide, magnesium oxide, and essential oil blend.

I would get some and try.

My doctor told me to give my daughter vinegar baths. In a small rectangular bucket (like you would soak your feet) add one cup of white vinegar to a few quarts of warm water (almost to the top). Do this in the empty bathtub so when it overflows it will go in the tub . Let her sit in it for 10 minutes. Do this two times a day for maybe five days. It really helped my daughter. She actually enjoys the vinegar baths=0) Next time she takes an antibiotic, give her Florastor to keep all the good stuff in her system to prevent it or at least to keep it in check .They say too much sugar kind of worsens the yeast infection . Good luck and I hope she feels better soon =0)
