I am 25 years old and having my very first yeast infection... I don't have any insurance or anything. I have used the cream... It started last Thursday. It is very uncomfortable. It burns. Not when I pee... If I itch it, it feels like its going to start bleeding. Please give me some advice.

What can I do next?

When you say you've used cream, do you mean monistat 7 (or other types of yeast medicines)? That should take care of a typical yeast infection. You may have something more serious that requires medical attention.

This is a little "involved" but it really does cure a yeast infection naturally. Press at least 2 cloves of garlic and put in a cup of warm water. Let "steep" for 15 minutes. Strain the water and add 3 cups of water and douche with it. You can increase the garlic as much as needed to wipe out the yeast.

We all are suppose to have a certain amount of yeast in balance with a certain amount of good bacteria. Like any other infection, a yeast infection is simply an imbalance in that environment. The key is to re balance. Get some Acidophilis. The brand I recommend is called Primodophilis and can be found refrigerated at Akins or Whole Foods. Take at least 3 capsules 2x daily for about 7-10 days. As far as dealing w/ the itch, this may sound a little gross, but it works. Use plain yogurt topically as needed and duesch with warm water daily to clean off the yogurt. Don't use the warm water more than once a day or it will dry you out.

you need probiotics! Any health food store should have them. Take acidopholis and eat yogurt with the live cultures in it. You can get the organic cultured yogurt (plain of course) and put it directly on the effected area, just wear a pad cause it gets messy. I've used this method many times and it always works. You are fighting yeast in your body and the probiotics give you the right bacteria to do that with. Good Luck!!!

Hi V.,
Monastat 7 suppositories use to be the best but they now have the treatment in one dosage. Monastat 1. Eat yogart, and stop washing your clothes in washing powder, use the liquid. My doctor told me years ago that sometimes the powder does not rinse out of your clothes competely. Since I started useing the liquid and eat yogart at least twice a week I no longer get yeast infections. Good Luck. C.

First of all, have you ever visited a planned pregnancy clinic. The reason I ask is since you don't have insurance. They work off of income but I believe anyone can use them. They perform paps, preg. tests, etc... There is a Physicians Assistant usually who can do quite a bit of the things an MD does. They may be able to perscribe something. The problem right off the bat is there are several things that can cause itchiness. If this is yeast it should respond to the cream and resolve usually AFTER 7 days. It can take that long! So I am surprised if this hasn't cleared up. The Planned Pregnancy probably does look at the slide for yeast which is pretty easy to do and can tell you. I would think they could prescribe medicine. The prescription really isn't that expensive. I am not at liberty to prescribe anything for you but I think that would certainly be a good thing to look into.

There are over-the counter-treatment that can be very effective. Using just a cream has never worked for me to totally get rid of it, but the Vagicil 7-day treatments work well. If this doesn't help you should see a doctor, even without insurance, this is really not something you want to let go. I do hope you get better soon, this is one of the most uncomfortable things.

Buy some bentonite, and psyllium at the local health food store, mix it with some juice or PURE water, and don't use a metal spoon to stir it with...better to shake that stuff in a bottle because bentonite is clay, and psyllium is fiber, and they clump.
It doesn't taste very good, but it will completely detox your body of ANY infection, including the metals in your body due to the chemtrails, and other pollutants bombarding us.
Bout 10 bucks for both, and it will last for MANY times, and a doctor isn't necessary....nor are more chemicals to add to the trauma your body already goes through with the pollutants, etc...
I take it regularly, and it has changed so much for me. I take it for infections like colds, all the way to the problems in my legs, and in the end, I'm healthier, and I have alot more energy too, because those toxins aren't in my body.
Do try it....it will help tremendously for all kinds of things.
Good luck

I had a horrible yeast infection after taking antibiotics a few weeks ago. Vagisil does make an infection screening kit that will tell you if it is something worse than a normal yeast infection. I found it it Wal-Mart. Also, I used the Wal-Mart brand version of Monistat 1 (Wal-Mart was cheaper of course!). It took maybe 36-48 hours before I really noticed it working.

If it is really a yeast infection, I highly suggest the probiotics. You have gotten a lot of good suggestions. I take probiotics every day and haven't had a yeast infection in years. Whenever you take antibiotics, or even if you eat a lot of foods with yeast or sugar in them, you should take more. Probiotics are also good for the immune system, to help you fight off infections. If you are not sure if it's a yeast infection, you should go to the doctor and have it checked.

Cut out all foods that contain yeast and sugar. Even juice can aggrevate yeast. This will help starve the yeast.
Take probiotics for sure. Go to the health food store for these, not a drug store or Wal-mart.

You can take all the medication and remedies you want but if you don't cut out the yeast & sugar it will keep coming back!

For at least two weeks eliminate all carbohydrates such as white flour, bread, potatoes, rice, sugar in any form even in fruits or juices, and grains. Eliminate dairy products as well. Eat good green vegetables and lean baked or grilled meats. Drink lots of filtered water throughout the day. Get you an antifungal such as olive leaf extract, north american spice oregano, or caprylic acid. If you can't get any of that, chop you some fresh garlic up and swallow with water several times a day. You should quickly see results.

Hi V.,

Go to the health food store and get name brand Solaray Yeast Cleanse caps. Take three 2x/day for 3 days. Also, get Jarrow acidolphulus (in the fridge section), start taking that as it directs after you finish the yeast cleanse. The yeast cleanse works way better than any cream or Dr. prescribed meds I've ever used. The acidolphulus keeps the yeast in check and regulates your digestive system more efficiently than the "live active cultures" that all the yogurt companies are claiming work.

If you have recently been on an antibiotic, sometimes this kills the good bacteria with the bad. However, yeast infections can be caused by many things...sex, tub bathing, staying in a wet bathing suit too long, among others. So for the future, try to decide what might have caused yours, but for now...have you tried eating yogurt? It replaces the good bacteria that keeps everything as it should be.
You may also check into free clinics in your area, they also have clinics that are income based. We all go through hard times. And not having insurance, even for a short while stinks. But if you have no improvement after a few days of the cream, you may need to be seen.

You have been given some good advice but if it is not getting well with home remedies, you need to go to the doctor before it gets worse. There are usually clinics with income scales.

The only other advice that I can think of that works for some is to actually INSERT active yogurt into your vagina as well as rub it on the exterior.

I know you've already posted that you feel like you're over this but I'm gonna throw this out there for anyone else who may be reading your post & has the same issue. I am a pharmacist for one of the major drugstore chains & mother of a 2 year old. For the longest time after having my son (even while I was pregnant too) I had yeast infections especially after taking 3 or 4 rounds of antibiotics for a UTI. I finally got rid of it by doing a combination of Diflucan 200 mg, took 1 dose, then repeated in 2 days, and used Gynazole-1 with it. It worked better than any of the otc remedies. I know the Gynazole is pricey, however last time I checked 1 tablet of generic Diflucan 150mg was on WalMart's $4 generic list. Walgreen's has their savings club now available for those with little or no 3rd party prescription coverage & gives really good discounts on the most commonly prescribed medications. Diflucan is not recommended for pregnant women, so better to stick with the vaginal creams during pregnancy. Hope this is some useful information.

I work in the mefical field and i see that a lot. When you used the creams waht kind of cream did you use and did it work? If not i have learned through my studys and through seeing patients that it could be an std by the nickname of trick. I don't know if you are familiar with that but it shows the same signs of a yeast infection and it is exactly what yoou just described to me. There is a test kit that you can buy at the drug store or wal-mart or some place like that that can let you know if it is a yeast infection or something worse. It will let you know if you need to seek medical help for the problem that you are having. So far that is all that i can suggest to you and i hope you get rid of whatever it is that is bothering you. Just incase you didn't know that std "trick" can be treated safely with antibiotics so don't worry, but get it taken care of as soon as possible what ever it may be so it won't harm your body for being in there so long. If it is burning when you urinate, you probably have a urinary tract infection. You can drink lots of fluids, take a baking soda sitz bath for about 20 minutes twice a day, and take a product called AZO. However, if in two days you are not feeling better you need to see the doctor. If not you could get a kidney or bladder infection or worse. Doctors will work out payment plans with you or you can call the health dept. Also make sure you tell them you are taking AZo b/c it can affect the urinalysis.

I have had Chronic yeast infections for many years. I have tried EVERYTHING. You do need to be sure that it is a yeast infection. Just remember that different things work for different people as well. I never had success w/ prescription or over the counter medications. I have done a lot of research on the internet and found Tao of herbs- I believe on Amazon.com-Yeast Arrest. I found it in a "First" magazine. I ordered Yeast Arrest, which has boric acid in it, and Candidastat to take orally. I took this back in January, and I have not had a yeast infection since, which is a huge deal for me. I would look on Amazon.com or call 1888-###-###-####. If you have a on going problem- I would wear cotton panties, cut down on your sugar intake, Eat yogurt, and I alway heard to take showers and not baths. Sitting in a soapy bath always gave me a yeast infection. I hope this helps because it can be extremely frustrating!

Hi V.,

I'm sorry you are suffering. When I had one a few years ago, some of the creams didn't really work and I had to get a prescription pill that helped. If the cream doesn't work after a couple days, you may want to ask the pharmacist for advice. If they can't offer anything, you may have to go to a doctor (or the ER if you really can't afford a doc) because the prescription probably would take care of it. Good luck!

I've done it and it works - the logest it has taken was about a week, and that was when I was on heavy-duty antibniotics.

To remove it, sit on the toilet and push like you would to have a bowel movement. Reach up with your middle finger as you're pushing and you'll be able to get the end of your finger behind it and push it out.

i use to get yeast infections about once a month. i did not have insurance at the time either. i would watch your diet. try to eat or drink things with as little yeast in it. Also, the Diflucan pill is a miracle pill. I had to get them all the time with no insurance and it wasn't that much. Call around to different pharm. to see how much they charge and get your gyno to call it in for you. also check with your gyno to find out what milligram he/she will call in, i know that sometimes makes a difference on the price. if you don't want to go that route and if you can stick it out i would eat yogurt like crazy when i would see a yeast infection coming on. Make sure the yogurt says that is has live and active colutres in it. most of them do. I know Activia has it. another trick is to sit on the potty and pour cold water over your area. and wear cotten panties. the longer your private area stays warm the longer the infection will hang around. hope that helps. I had a yeast infection on a flight to Germany that was the most uncomfortable i have ever been in my life. i was running out of tricks so that's when decided to pour cold water over it. i was at my witts end!!!

I used to have yeast infections regularly. The only thing that worked for me was the prescription pill from the dr. Clinics are pretty good about letting you pay out your bill if you are up front with them. But the PA at our clinic told me not to use the douches as this kills something in the membranes and will actually cause a yeast infection. She said just use plain water or add a little baking soda in the water. It won't help this time, but might help in the future. (I had used the douches for years before developing the problem). Hope this helps.

I've only ever eaten it (for breakfast and had it as smoothies) when I've had thrush, but some friends of mine have actually put it "down there". Girls have soaked tampons in yoghurt and done the usual with them after that. They swear by it!

However, the cream generally kills it off quite quickly... if it's still sticking around then you should get looked at as it could be more than just thrush.

Best of luck!

Buy one of the Monastat products over the counter and it usually works. If it doesn't and you have used it exactly as directed, you should see a dr. Maybe there is a free clinic in your town. You could get/or have a worse infection if the over the counter meds don't work as indicated. They are usually very effective and cure the problem. Don't wait for treatment, it will get worse.

i am a women's health nurse practitioner and often see women treat themselves for yeast infection, but in fact they have another infection. if you used cream for a yeast infection without good effect and the symptoms have continued then you probably do not have a yeast infection or it could be a rare type of yeast you have which requires a prescription. also, there is an infection called bacterial vaginosis(BV) that has the same symptoms as a yeast infection and unfortuantely there are no over the counter medications available. you must see a provider for treatment. you can look on wedmd.com for reliable information about BV. if you have a community clinic nearby they should be able to prescribe you metrogel if in fact you have BV at an affordable price. in the meantime stay away from baths, do not use soap in your vaginal area (only clean with water), do not douche, wear cotton underwear, and avoid wearing pads. it is best if you can go panytless especially at night to prevent moisture and after showering make sure your vaginal area is completely dry before getting dressed. you can use a blowdryer to the area on low to dry any moisture.
