Yearbooks

Good morning mamas!! I was wondering at what age do you start buying your children yearbooks? My daughter is in preschool and will only be at this school for one year then will go to Kindergarten at a school in a different town. Granted, some of the kids in her class will also go with her to Kindergarten so I could see her maybe wanting to see pictures of them from when they were this age...but I just wonder if it's necessary (okay I know it's not necessary...but is it something I should buy?). I think in elementary, junior and definitely HS I will buy them for my kids. But not sure about preschool age? Ideas/thoughts?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Wow thanks for all of the responses!! I forgot to mention that I'm a huge scrapper and attend every class party so she will have pictures from her classroom parties and field trips for this year! The reason I was asking is because I often am suckered into buying stuff I don't think they really need/want. So when I got the form, my first thought was 'Nah' then I started to second guess myself!! Thanks for all the input!

I plan to buy my daughter one in 6th grade, one in 8th grade, and probably one her senior year of high school. I don't see the point in buying them more often than that, but that's just me!

I'm not rich by any means, but I've bought them every year they've been offered. Of course, they're getting more expensive the older my kids get, BUT, I don't buy them just because my kids ask for them, I buy them because I think back on all my school days and wish I had pictures, etc. My parents couldn't afford anything other than the single school picture but I kind of wish they could have bought the class picture instead. PLUS with the yearbook, I love having the pictures of the teachers and all the extra stuff that's usually in the yearbook.

I'm also the really sentimental type, so anything with my chldrens' pictures, I'm a sucker to buy!!

Good luck!!!

In preschool, the only thing offered to us was a picture of the class and single shot of daughter.

Yearbooks were offered in elementary school beginning in K. Yes, I have purchased one each year for my daughter and we have enjoyed them over the years. here is how it works here...

Elementary, less than $30 grades K-5
Middle school, around $40 grades 6-8
High School, around $60 grades 9-10
Senior high school, $90 grades 11-12

My daughter is in 11th grade and we have her collection all together. She even enjoys looking at yearbooks from my husband and my childhood. All of our yearbooks are signed by friends and teachers and the are a nice memory.

We've bought them every year starting at K. They were not offered by our preschool. My son LOVES his yearbooks. Worth every penny.

I would, but I'm an old sap that way. I wish I had more yearbooks.

I won't start buying yearbooks until middle school. I attend class parties and field trips, so I'll get a group shot at some point during the year, and we label it. I don't even buy the class photo or individual pictures because they never capture my kids' real smiles. A preschool yearbook is beyond ridiculous!

I wouldn't buy one for preschool. Most of the kids she'll probably never see again. Do they offer a class picture? I start buying them in elementary school when they are going to school with the same kids year after year. My daughter, 2nd grade, loves to look at her yearbooks and does so quite often.

I would just get a class picture for preschool. I'm sure your daughter won't care to remember the little kids in the 2 yr old class she doesn't even know.

I am starting to order yearbooks starting in kingergarten, since my son will most likely be going to school with the same kids for at least the next 6 years.

if it's available, affordable, & you're interested....then why not?
