Im having a baby this week and Im freaking out about my kids getting sick. My daughter has a softball game tomorrow night and one of the softball moms mentioned on facebook that her kids have been sick all weekend. Shes not the type to keep her kids from things when they are sick, plus her husband is one of the coaches. She has brought her son to one of the games with a fever. Its making me very nervous. If my kids are sick they wont even be allowed at the hospital. Should I keep her from the game?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! I contacted the head coach and gave her a heads up. With the girl having a fever today, they are supposed to be fever free for 24 hours, so we just arent going to take the chance.

Considering it's go time, I'd say no harm in keeping the kids home this week. Short of them driving you crazy or getting in the way, you might really need the extra hands and help anyway.

Generally speaking, I don't mind if parents bring their kids to events with coughs, colds, or sniffles, especially if they're outdoors. Life happens, and you can pick up germs anywhere. But fever, vomiting, etc., are different. If you're that worried about your child(ren) getting sick before the baby, I would keep her home.

I can't stand a person that only thinks about themselves and not the fact that other people are affected by their actions. Just like you said about this woman risking other childrens healthiness so her child can play sports. I would talk to your husband and make the decision together. I think though that if there is any doubt I would keep her from the game and not take any chances. I would also talk to the other parents about the healthiness of their kids and what they think about this woman and her actions. You might come up with a universal code that if your child is sick don't come to games.

I would. Its either that, or risk your kids being sick and then having to take care of them PLUS having a baby PLUS recovering from a baby PLUS having to start taking care of a newborn.

If it were me, yes, keep your kids away from sick kids since you're due so soon. You don't want to deal with illness on top of having a new baby. no fun! It's frustrating when people aren't considerate and bring their sick children (with a fever even?!) into public and risk getting others sick. I would for sure avoid any possibility of illness right now. Sorry you're dealing with that!

I'd skip the game. Take the family out for ice cream or something instead. It's only 1 game and I agree, it would really stink if they couldn't come into the hospital room to meet their new sibling.

I think you are stressing over nothing....seriously - stuff happens. They can get sick as easily at school as they can at a game.

I have taken my kids with coughs and sniffles. Not fevers or vomiting. With her husband being the coach - it might be hard for her to stay home - i don't know for sure.

What would I do? I would go the game. it's easy to be proactive...washing hands, not using the same bat...there are many things you can do to prevent your kids getting sick - but the bottom line is that stuff happens and they can get sick ANYWHERE!!!

Good luck!

You are right to worry. No need to mentally slap yourself in the face! Clearly the people on this softball team have no brains when it comes to keeping sick kids at home.

Molly, you have a TON on your plate. You will not be "punishing" your kids by keeping them home. You don't want to get sick, and you sure as heck don't want your kids to be sick when you are not able to be there for them.

Only you know which decision is right for your family, but you certainly have my support for keeping them home if you feel it's necessary.
Take care and rest up! It's going to be a busy week! Congrats in advance!

Hi Molly,

Please don't worry...it does you and your little one no good! :)

The best like of defense is simply that. You need to defend yourself with a strong immune system. Kids with a healthy immune system simply don't get sick. There are several things you can do...I recommend doing all of them. I did and my kids don't get sick anymore.

We detoxed our home and removed all the synthetic chemicals. Synthetic chemicals contraindicate just like pharmaceuticals do and not only weaken you system but will actually cause disease. It was simple and cost effective the way I did it.

Get your kids on an absorbable multivitamin mineral complex. They need nutrition and most kids don't absorb it well because of the chemicals in their systems. We get those from pesticides, preservatives, hormones, antibiotics and other additives to foods. Add that to the chemicals absorbed through the skin from laundry detergents and bath and body products your on overload.

I also believe that upper cervical chiropractic care is a good line of defense. Maintaining your neurological system by keeping your spine aligned will keep all your organs and body parts healthy so they can do their job(s) effectively.

If you are interested in more detail, please private message me. I would love to help you get rid of your anxiety and get your home even safer for your newborn.

Regards,

M.

It's also cold and dreary and has been so moist this week. I can imagine the mold count is high and I know allergies are bothering people. I would if I were you. Your getting so close.
