Working Moms Playgroup NW Suburbs

I asked this question about a year ago (regarding a working moms group/playgroup) but I'm really ready to put something together now. I am a full time working mom of two boys ages 5 and 10 and I feel so disconnected from other families because I work full time. I feel like SAHM's don't want to engage my family (maybe it's me more than them?) because my husband and I both work (although he does work at home).

I'd like to know if any moms out there are interested in getting together on Saturdays, in the NW suburbs? For SAHMs, Saturdays seem off-limits but for my family, it's really the only day I can do it.

Anybody interested? I thought we could all meet at a park and take it from there for future outings.

What can I do next?

Count me in too! I work full time from home and would love to find moms who are willing to meet on weekends and maybe even weeknights. I have a 5 year old boy and 8 month old boy. I'm right off of 90 on Beverly Road so open to anything near 90-59/31/Randall, etc.

Hi J.,

I too am back to work full time and it is hard to stay connected..I belong to a group called Mothers N More of McHenry county. That is the closest chapter for us in NW suburbs. It focuses on both stay at home moms and working Moms, there is also a seasoned Moms group for those who have older kids. Send me a message back if you are interested in learning more.

I'd be interested! I've been searching for a working mom's playgroup. Could we look into putting it together on matchup.com?

I would be interested in some sat get togethers. I have a 5 year and 7 year old son and live in Cary. my email is ____@____.com

Hi J.,

I am not sure where you are located but I am part of a great moms group in Mchenry & Kane counties called Mom-2-Mom. For the most part our members are SAHM but we do have a few working moms as well. We offer playgroups for all ages as well as monthly planned kids activities. Each month we also have mom only events like bunco, book club, moms night out and scrapbooking. Not to forget dads we have dads night out and couples night out. For more information and a current newsletter you can email me at ____@____.com or call our hotline at ###-###-####.

Hi,

I get what you mean. I am also a full time working mom. One good thing is I work full time at home so while my son goes to daycare I still get to have a lot more time with him than if I worked at an office or otherwise.

I am in Streamwood and my son is 5, I would be interested in Saturdays after like 11 or so (noon for the next few weeks as my son is in swimming lessons until 11:45). Where do you live?

Hi J. - I wondered if you knew about Meetup.com. I belong to one of the groups in the area and it's really easy to communicate with and attract people in your situation to your group through this venue. You could either see if an existing group would be interested in having you as an assistant facilitator of their group (to add weekend activities) or start your own. If you started your own, you could even title it specific to the folks you're trying to attract, ie. "Working Moms/Parents of the NW Suburbs" or whatever. Good luck!

I completely understand how you feel. MY schedule is crazy but if I can work it out, I'd be glad to meet somewhere. I have a 2 year old son and a 4 year old daughter. MY husband and I both work full-time although I work from 1-11pm, 4 days a week so that I can be home in the mornings for them.
