I have recently taken over my parents printing company that is in severe need of an overhaul. I am basically working there for free, but thankfully my 18 month old can go to work with me. I was very negative about the whole situtation until I found success books & motivation tapes. I have even increased my Faith! I keep reading that I should surround myself with like minded successful individuals and get a mentor. I was just writing if anyone had some words of advice for a full time working Mommy!! Thank you!!

What can I do next?

My advice would be take it one day at a time but plan the rest of them. I find that a weekly plan sheet helps me tremendously. I can plan god first, family second and career third. With everything done in that priority goes so much better. Stick with it, it'll be worth it in the end!

S.,

Congratulations on taking over your parents business. As a designer myself I know how competitive the print industry can be in our state. My advice is to make sure you find and fill a gap in the printing market in your area. Keeping your goals in mind an having a plan is the key to any successful business.

As a full time working mother is sounds like you have things well in hand. I would love to be able to have my daughter with me at work, but I work in the corporate world, where children don't fit very well. All I can say is do your best to keep your spirits up. Staying positive will help you over even the roughest months. Hang in there!

You might look into attending Dave Ramsey's event on May 2nd in Kansas City. If you aren't familiar with him, he is a Christian personal money management expert. If anyone can help, it's Dave Ramsey. I know that it's a 3-4 hour drive for you, but maybe you can make a fun middle of the winter overnight trip out of it.
Here is an exerpt from his website about the event.

About the Event

Dave took his business from a card table in his living room to a national business generating tens of millions of dollars a year! Through the years as he was getting his nose bloodied by learning what it takes to be successful, he plotted out what God was showing him on how to run a business the right way. Dave learned not just how to make something and sell it, but all aspects of running a business, so that he wouldn’t just end up a statistic in someone’s book on failure. He learned what it means to hire and keep champions that are as passionate about the business as he is, and why neglecting administrative tasks will ruin growth. Dave is a practitioner in the area of business. This is the way he runs his company. He has been where you are and knows how to get your business going and growing.

Dale Carnegie Award
Dave has received The Dale Carnegie Leadership Award of which there are only 10 in the world given out each year.

Best Place to Work Award

Dave’s office was also voted Nashville Business Journal’s Best places to work award for 2006 and 2007.

hey S.!
i'm a single momma of 2 and a full time working mommy! unfortunately i can't take the girls to work with me, they are in a great in-home daycare with an awesome provider! they love her! i have been reading fearless living by rhonda britten. it comes with a workbook and is a great series. i am currently studying it with my single mom's lifegroup from church. i encourage you to keep up the good work. i suggest if your looking for a mentor to get another full time mommy to hook up with for support. its not for "misery loves company" complaint sessions but at least you'll know someone who is out there in a similar situation.
