Has anyone done (or does) these assembling products from home jobs? I've always been curious what exactly it entails. I'm looking for something to do from home that doesn't require any selling. Thanks for any info.

What can I do next?

The Chicago Trib had articles last week about the top scams from 2008. This was one of them listed under the work from home heading. The other was medical transcription. The bottom line is, if you have to pay upfront, it is not actually legit. With the way the economy is, scammers are having a field day. Good luck and be very careful.

I am a sahm to 3 beautiful (but very time consuming!) kids. Anyway a couple of months ago I was debating whether or not to go back to work and with daycare costs, and gas prices what they are, I realized I need to do something from home. I thought about doing daycare but realized I value my freedom way too much (and my 3 kids are PLENTY of work;) I found a position with a solid 16 year old company, marketing and enrolling new members into discount health benefit programs. You can work from your house as long as you have internet access and a phone. The company offers 6 months adv. pay, daily pay, health benefits for your entire household, 401k options and life insurance. The position is commission based but very lucrative considering 7 out of 10 people are either uninsured or under insured. The programs are VERY affordable ranging between $19.95 - $59.95 per month for the entire household. This is a booming field to get into given the current economic situation and healthcare crisis. Let me know if you would like more information, it has been a great opportunity for me and my family.

Best of Luck!

I'm not sure about what you can do from home assembling things but I would like to say while I'm sure there are scammers out there medical transcription is a real profession. I don't believe you will be able to get a position with a legit company unless you go through the training and have a certificate. I looked into it but I don't type fast enough (they say you have to be able to type, at the very least, 90 WPM and be able to listen to tapes of doctors speaking all day). I eventually decided to go with medical coding. The woman who is married to the man who I thought was my biological father (such a long story) works from home doing medical transcription and she likes it and makes a regualr income. She works for a company that contracts with doctor's offices. Once a week she goes to the doctor's offices and picks up the tapes and brings them home and transcribes them and then uploads them to her company who in turn gives them to the doctor's offices. But because it deals all in medical terminology and anatomy and etc she had to go to school. Same as my medical coding. I go to school online to an actual, real school (Everett College based in Everett, Washington. It's a real community college that has a distance learning program). This semester I am taking an Anatomy class, Basics to Pharmacology, Diagnostic Coding, and Medical Abbreviations. I have one more sememster and then I graduate. But just like medical transcription I have to be certified by an association before anyone will hire me. It's to ensure I've had the training and will continue to update my education. After I finish I plan to continue and get a certificate in medical billing because that is something I can do from home. But that is the same as the other two. I have to attend school. Now there are some schools that are scams but I did my research and enrolled in an accredited school that actually has a real campus. I have a Pell Grant that helped pay for my schooling. (Thank God for the grant!) If it's something you are interested in doing and can go to school I say enroll in classes somewhere and do it! I can refer you to the people at my school if you'd like. They were wonderful in helping me get registered and get finicial aid. And I love my instructors and the head of the distance learning program is fantastic. Plus the medical field is probably one of the most stable fields out there and it is constantly growing.
Anyway, I justed wanted to throw my two cents in. Good luck and I hope you find something that you enjoy.

I'm interested in working from home as well. I'm pregnant with my 2nd child and I have a 3 1/2 yr. old little girl. I don't really trust the assembling of products, there are a lot of scams out there, but I have heard from friends of mine that one of their friends does medical transcription. I'm thinking about looking into that since I'm a great typist and have at least some experience in that area though I'm told that you really don't need any experience.

I wish you luck and I'll be interested to see what other advice women have out there who have heard about or have had some experience working from home. I sure hope you and I can find something that fits our need.

Good luck!

Let me tell you a little about myself.... I have been struggling about the decision to homeschool or not to homeschool for the last year. My husband was against homeschooling so we decided to send my two boys to preschool. My 4 year old enjoyed it but seemed to be coming home with a serious attitude problem which i did not like and my 3 year old started wetting the bed and having serious seperation issues. To say the least things were not going well for us. I had wanted to go back to work so that was a struggle for my family as well because you can not work and home school at the same time. FInances are tight so that was a definate issue!! However, i am excited to say that the decision has been made but I could use some advice on the best way to homeschool preschool age boys. I also discovered a way to work at home to make some money as well so I can proudly say... I
finally a found true business to do out of my HOME a couple hours a day. Working with other women, parents, professionals and SAHM's. Really having fun at what we do and building a secure future without pushing by selling or assembling crafts, no data entry or stuffing envelopes just talking with others about making healthy choices and living well.
The blessing is that I Work with a company that trains, supports and mentors you. It's not a get rich scam. It takes a little time to get yourself organized and on a steady flow -but the financial rewards are endless. I not only contribute to the family income...I LOVE IT- not many people can say they LOVE what they do!!!
Read the information at the link provided... this will change your life and your family's future!!!

I know searching for the right company fit is time consuming- but by getting information and making an educated decision is where it all starts!! Best of luck and I do look forward to helping you!

I tried one once. It was making earrings. I figured I make jewelry, so why not make these earrings? It didn't turn out good.

http://www.capital-crafts.com/faqs.htm

You have to pay for the first kit which has the beads for a $50 fee. They tell you that you can "make back" the money from purchasing the kit by making the earrings. They pay $6 per completed pair. Each time you want to make earrings you pay them for the supplies (I can't recall how much) and then when you complete the earrings they send you a check.

I make jewelry and sell it so I figured NO PROBLEM. I'm also really crafty, I can sew, knit, hand-embroider and scrapbook. I figured it was up my alley!

Those earrings were a pain in the tushie! FIRST they were U-G-L-Y. Not anything that I've seen in any stores, or anything that I'd call "in style." Then you have to SEW them a certain way with thread. The beads they give you aren't all good ones, you have to sort through. If your earrings aren't up to par they don't pay you the full $6.

I thought I could watch TV or listen to music or just relax at home while doing it.

It took me over an hour to make the first one, an hour for the second one and I could never get it faster than a half-hour per earring, but most of the time it was 45 minutes. I'M A REALLY GOOD CRAFTER!!!! Making less than $6 an hour...I could easily make double that working a regular job. I sent the earrings in...and didn't get my full $6 per pair (they weren't "good enough" quality). I made them carefully and with the best of the beads they gave me. Again, I'M A REALLY GOOD CRAFTER!

I never made my $50 back. The site was listed in a book of "legit" at-home businesses (which I also paid for).

I'm pretty sure there's no way to make a lot at home, unless you're at the top of a MLM scheme or we'd ALL work at home! I now make great money selling my crafts, etsy is a good place. Bottom line is if you have a high-quality product to sell you won't have to push or swindle people.

Good luck!

Hi S.:

I used to sell Avon and it was kind of a pain because I did have to receive all the products and deliver it. I think I spent more than I made too! Awhile ago I partnered with a company to work from home. It really is a great team of moms who offer a ton of support. There is no selling, stocking or inventory. On top of everything else it is 100% risk free! The company has won accolades with the Better Business Bureau and Inc. 500 and has been around doing a phenomenal business for 23 years. Let me know if you ever want more information. :)

Good luck!

My name is M., the first question I want to ask you is do you want to work from home? Or do you want to own your own business? owning your own business have great tax advantages, just remember that when ever you put gas in your car, you get that money back at the end of the year, when you buy coffee, go shopping, go out to eat, go on trips all tax advantages. I am going to give you a web site that helped me fire my full time boss, leave a great income to stay at home w/ my kids & earn a wonderful income helping people.

Hi S..

I am a Pampered Chef Consultant and I help families eat on a budget. I'm a mother to a 4 year old and an 1 year old (both girls). I love staying home with them and having the opportunity to work as little or as much as I like. I started with them back in August 2007 when I was 7 months pregnant.

The products sell it's self and you have FUN in the process. Consultants make around $100 per show (about 2 hours). The Pampered Chef is a great company with great people to help you achieve your dreams. You'll never have to worry about meeting a high sales quota or getting fired.

Let me know if this is something you may be interested in. I would love to have you on my team!

If you are interested and have many questions, I would love to come to your home and prepare a recipe for you and your friends and family. They will get to try all the awesome kitchen tools that prepares the meal in a flash.

Please let me know if you are interested. We have awesome Host specials going on right now.

Good Luck!

Most Work-at-Home Opportunities that sound too good to be true usually are. This one is different. It doesn't require assembling or selling. I recruit for Asurion and we have great opportunities available if you live in the Denver, Houston or Nashville metro areas.

I'm the mother of a 13 month old boy, with our second due in September. I am fortunate to have a great job that allows me to balance motherhood with my career.
