Work Work Work

I hate to be the one to say it, but there really aren't many full time work from home jobs out there. There are always things like Avon and Pampered Chef, tutoring, daycare, etc. But not a lot of career type jobs -- unless you're already in the field and have an "in" with a company. People ask all the time for work from home jobs here, so you might want to do a search to see what other good responses have been provided.

It'd be easier to make peace with the co-worker.

Better money. Better benefits. More smiles per day. More promotions. Bigger raises. Financial security. Date nights. Dinners out. Dry-cleaning. Did I mention health care benefits?

I'm sorry, I got distracted. I'm sure this woman and her BS are totally worth the price.

Why not try and fix it and keep the great job? :)

I had a friend who produced church bulletins for a few area churches. Each week they would send her content - order of service, name of sermon, main Bible verse, and hymns/songs. She had a nice laser printer and wrote it off as a business expense. It seemed pretty cushy for her - a few hours of work for extra cash in the comfort of her own home!

Working at home is work too.... You just don't leave the office.

We run our company from home and I am in this office most of my day. You must be very motivated and self disciplined to work from home.

Most companies would require you to have childcare because no one wants a rep for them talking to clients with children or animals in the background.

Most companies (me included) will not hire someone to work from home because first they must prove that they are capable of the work and will do a quality job.. I do have a couple of people I will work with because I know they are diligent about getting a job done timely and correctly.

If you have been at your position a while and you do a good job, possibly your boss would allow you to telecommute a day or 2 a week, etc.

Some seem to think you can get paid to work from home and watch your children all day. That is a dream world.

You'll get hit up with all the MLM/direct sales recruiters to come sign up with them. Just make sure if you choose to do it you read all the fine print.

As the saying goes.... if it sounds too good to be true,, it probably is a scam

Not sure about great work from home jobs, but I will be keeping an eye on this post because I could sure use one too! As for a job with great flexibility, it doesnt make much but I was a retail merchandiser and I basically was able to make my own hours as long as the work assigned to me was done within a specified time period, usually a week, sometimes 2. Pay wasnt that great but the flexibility worked great for our family. Good luck

Sad, really, that O. miserable coworker could make you want to leave a "great" job, isn't it?

If there are other reasons, hard to say not knowing what you're doing now or what you CAN do....freelance design work is what I do in addition to my PT job.

What is your background? Skills?

I think that before quitting out right I would talk to the office manager or who ever is over you, or over both of you, and ask to talk about a matter that is serious to you. Giving them a chance to correct the problem would be best for everyone, even the other people in the office.

If they are unable or unwilling to make some changes or move you around even, they you can tell them that this has become an unacceptable environment and you are forced to give notice.

I might even call the employment office and find out if you have to quit if you can file for unemployment. If you can if you say it correctly then make sure to say it that way....

Working from home is still working. Sometimes it requires huges blocks of time carved out through your day. While other times you will be able to get the job done in small bursts. There are plenty of off beat jobs available that you can do from home or at the least adjust your hours accordingly or starting your own business would also give you a certain measure of flexible time but you will need to pour in perhaps even more hours than your current job to make it successful.

If you have a great job, figure out how you can make it work for you even with the difficult co-worker. Can the job you currently do be done from home? Can you develop a proposal to your current job to convince them to allow you to work from home? Your employer will need to see how your working from home will be a major benefit to them.

I never ever allow the actions of another run me from a paycheck. I have always managed to figure out what I need to do to make the situation bearable for me since the paycheck I receive benefits my family.

You may want to consider looking for a new job.

What skill sets do you possess that would allow you to work from home? I have a girlfriend that is a software wizard. She often works from home and does freelance projects.

I have another friend that is a professional dog walker. Another friend is a house sitter. Another friend is a pet sitter. Another friend makes crotcheted items and bakes for extra money. Another friend is a physical therapist. Another friend is a hair dresser, she will come to your home and beautify your hair. Another friend is a personal trainer.

The question you need to ask yourself is what can I do with my own two hands? Then move forward to determine what venue or avenues you need to get to your end goal.
