I work from home with the company "Melaleuca the Wellness Company" - I like it because you get paid by referring people to a shopping club that has better, safter ingredients (my favorite are the non toxic cleaning products). They are a reputable company and I like that I don't have to sell anything. And folks aren't spending "new" money - just switching stores. If you would like more information let me know!

R., there are many false claims of work at home jobs out there, however there are actually legitmit jobs as well. I am a SAHM of 3 beautiful little girls ages 8, 2 1/2 and 9 mos. I am also a WAHM as a Customer Service Rep. I learned of my job from a co-worker at my regular full time job before my last daughter was born because I knew I would not be returning to work. The cost of daycare almost outweighed what I would bring home so it was pointless. I had to find a way to supplement about $600 a month and this pretty much does it. I work when my kids sleep, literally. I work in the mornings from 5:30-7:30, at nap time and again from 9-11. You make your own schedule with the company I am with, some of the other companies you can not. I currently work for a company called West at Home Agent. Go to www.workathomeagent.com. you get paid by the minute, so if there are no calls you are not getting paid, but it is well worth it. I work in my pj's and I don't have to rush to get the kids to daycare, put gas in the car or anything else anymore. If I don't want to work, I don't. It's that simple. The money at first is kind of slow. You basically contract for companies that they have in their list and you have to wait for availability but the wait in the end pays off. Once I had registered with them and gotten hired, I worked for their main contractor Direct Response for about 1 1/2 months. Then an opening came up for HSN (yes, Home Shopping Network) and I have been working for them as well since Nov. My paychecks based on the hours that I choose are about $250 every other week, sometimes more, sometimes less. There are also other companies out there you may want to look into that do the same things. Try LiveOps or Willow CSN. They are also customer Service Companies. When you do your search on Google, try Work at Home or Work at Home Agents. Hope this helps and let me know if you want to know more. I started this job in Sept and it has been wonderful for me. I even convinced my best friend to try this and she is now a SAHM too!

R.,

In answer to your question, yes there are REAL work from home jobs. What you need to figure out is do you want a "start your own business" type of job or an actual job with an actual company which would also include being in independent contractor?

The reason that I ask is because there are both. "Start your own business" would include things like Princess House, which someone has alreay told you about, Magic Chef, Mary Kay, Avon, etc. Pretty much all of the "start your own business" opportunities are sales based.

There are also positions for independent contractors. However, becoming an independent contractor can be challenging as there is a lot of competition for the jobs and unless you have some pretty specialized skills it may take you a while to find something. With that said though it is possible.

Some websites that you may want to check out that only post for actual "work at home JOBS" and not "business opportunities" and the companies and positions are legit are:

www.tjobs.com

www.homejobstop.com

Also if you go into www.WAHM.com and go into their bulletin boards you can find a posting with a whole list of companies that people on the group have recommended or heard about.

Good luck

Hi R.,

I see you've gotten quite a few responses. My first piece of advice is to RESEARCH the company. And if the company asks for an investment, you want a company that is $100.00 or less and FULLY REFUNDABLE!!! I've been there, done that and have lost so much. I also tried so many different things that were good. They just weren't for me. So, YES...they are our there and they DO exist. You just have to find the right one that will fit with what you're looking for. Almost 2 years ago, I finally found mine. As for all the responses you got....check them out. See what will work for you.

Hi R.,

If you would like to just try out doing home parties, but without shelling out a bunch of money to get started, please go to my site at www.partylite.biz/votiveconfidence. Unlike almost every other home party company out there, PartyLite gives you the opportunity to try it out for FREE, and if you don't care for it, you get to keep your kit, the money you've made so far and walk away. You also don't have to worry about making deliveries, keeping inventory to sell others, and again, no investment! Not to mention, who doesn't love candles?

I hope you'll at least go to my website and look it over.

Thanks again,
A.

Yes, you can work from home. Not always through those ads that you referred to in your question. There are companies that will allow you to work from home. I am do it! I have gotten involved with a company called Daily Priorities International selling a couple of products, Prime Delight and Fusion. The Prime Delight is a pomagranate juice and the Fusion is a weight loss formula. This is the ground floor...something that you CAN honestly make good money at. My website is www.dpitoday.com/debraboblitt. Check it out, and if you have questions, please e-mail me.

I've looked into a few of those company's and they all seemed fishy. If you decide to go with one research them on the state of fla. licensing website (myfla.com then you can select licensing agency) you can also view their background on www.bbb.com (better business bureau). I have a friend who does medical transcription from home. She makes good money but had to go through training. Those envelope company's only pay you based on who and how many respond to the ads. Most of the time they are soliciatations you are sending out. Good luck:)

There is absolutely a GREAT way to work form home even in your spare time - and it doesn't take a large investment, you don't ahve to keep an inventory, you don't need to sell or collect money or leave your home to do parties or deliver products. I work with a team called Stayin Home and Lovin IT and they are a fabulous, supportive team that all help each other work from home. I have been doing this for over 18 months now and I am earning a great part-time income and able to be availabel for my 8-year old daughter and build the schedule and the life that I want! I'd love to get you more info and team up with you and help you to do the same!

I recently started a home business with Discovery Toys. Just like you, I've always been very skeptical of the work-from-home ads and offers. The only reason I actually decided to give this a try is because one of my friends has been doing this for some time and is doing AMAZING!!! This company really cares about their customers and representatives and has lots and lots of incentives. I also really loved the fact that when my babies get a bit older, I can get them involved, so it will be a job for me but also something that we can do together and they can be a part of. Another great thing about this job (especially for a SAHM)... you get to meet LOTS of other moms. Please check out my site for more info www.discoverytoyslink.com/N. Feel free to call me if you have any questions ###-###-####.

Good luck!

Hi R.!

I am also a stay at home, homeschooling mom. I have three boys ages 11, 5 and 2.

I have been looking into work at home jobs for years. The ones you see that you mentioned, they are scams. Don't waste your money.

There is one company that I signed up with and they are legitimate and you do not have to pay anything. It's an at home call center. You know when you see those infomercials on t.v. and they give you an 800 number to call? Well, those calls go to people that work from their home. The one I signed up with was called West, http://www.workathomeagent.com/. There is also another one called VIP Desk.
As long as you have a computer and a phone with a headset, that's all you need. It's pretty cool the way it's set up. Also, you choose the hours that you can work.

I personally decided to go with a home business, though. I enjoy it very, very much and my whole family is involved with it. Also, I'm able to make more money.

I believe there are also virtual assistant jobs that are real but I don't know of any companies personally.

I hope this helps some.

Hi R.,
My name is A.. I started my business with Mary Kay to earn some play money last summer. I love the product and now I can purchase it half off. Which has saved me some money too.
I enjoy doing it. It gives me a chance to get out of the house for some adult time but has also helped me meet other moms. I have 2 children one is 5 and the other is almost 2. I have actually taken my 2 yr old with me to go do facials with other moms. He gets to play with other children while I make money. Which I think is really cool.
I am located in the New Port Richey area if you would like to find out more. You visit my web site at www.marykay.com/ahinnant

Hi R.,
I work from home! I have a little one, 5 yrs old, and am very happy with my career. I am a beauty Consultant with Mary Kay and make 50% of everything I sell. I put in between 6-10 hours a week and make about $300 extra a week. If you are interested in hearing more, please feel free to e-mail me at ____@____.com
I gave up a 10 flying career with United to do this. I have found it very rewarding not only monitarily but personally as well and it has given me the ability to raise my own child instead of having a babysitter or day care do it.

Hi R.. I don't work from home but I have caught a couple of different segments on Good Morning America that have discussed this very issue. If you go to www.abcnews.com/gma you can get on their website and enter in "work from home" in the search box in the upper right area. It should pop up some different artlicles about the subject. You should be able to find the one that has Tory's Plan for dad's to work from home or something like that. I believe it has a list of different websites and types of work from home jobs. Any one of the one's that have Tory Johnson's name should also be able to help. I hope this works out for you. Good luck!
