What did you do before you stayed home? What skills do you have? Are you good on the computer or crafty or do you have accounting or secretarial skills? Do you have a pleasant phone voice and are good at solving problems? Figure out where your strengths are and brainstorm who could use your skills. Contact those companies directly or network with people you know to see if there might be a need for someone to help at there organization. Hope these ideas give you a start at finding something to do from home!

Hi S.,
I own a home based business- msg me if you want to know what I do or look at my reply to question earlier today!
Susan has some good advise on looking at your strengths and selling them to companies. Many companies are open to you working at satelite locations as long as they feel that your production is not going to suffer from family/children distractions.
While working in corporate America, after the birth of my first son, the company I had been with for over 10 years allowed me to work from home several days a week- the other days I had appointments. They also let me bring my son with me into the office. I found it difficult because I had a stressful job and would get resentful toward my son if he needed my attention while I had a deadline to meet and vise versa. So I stopped doing that and put him in the care of my mom while I worked.
Now that I work at home at my own business, I again have an infant as well as my 2 yr old and I don't feel that same pressure! If I am on the phone, I simply explain that I am a work at home mom and work around my kids and I haven't run into someone yet who felt I was less of a professional!
It has always been my dream to work at home, even before I had children- so I can understand why this is a daily question and there is alot of info and 'stuff' to sift thru on the internet. Again, it depends on exactly what you are looking to do, then narrow your search. If you find something that intrigues you, just gather all the information. Talk to others that are doing that, see how it is working for them, how much time they are putting toward it. Also, what are the 'scams'? I was looking for something that I still work hard at to get paid, I simply wanted the option to do it from home. Hope you find your niche!
HUGS-
B.
