Hi J.,
I have a child who has been in the West Chicago Schools since he was in 3rd grade. He's now in 8th, at the Middle School and will be going to Community High School next fall. We have been very pleased with the schools and the district as a whole. The teachers have been great and they have a bilingual program and a gifted program. Our experience with the students has been very positive as well. We live just a block from the H.S. and have never had any issues with them. We love it here...
Hope this helps!

Winfield is a great little town. I grew up there, and can't say enough about it. It has a small downtown, but is close to Wheaton, Naperville, etc. Depending on where you live in Winfield, your children will either go to a Wheaton High School, or the West Chicago High School. Wheaton schools have a better reputation, but West Chicago is a great school, too. Just more diverse (which is good). I went to West Chicago High School and consider it a great education.
I think the grade schools are excellent, but I don't know which ones are which, any more. I just know a lot of my High School friends located there again after college to raise their families there because of the good schools and community.
Good luck!

A little advice from another Realtor...1st, I also suggest checking out greatschools.net, but also check out the Illinois State Board of Educations report cards for the West Chicago district, this site will give you demographic information as well as test scores. You can search by district as a whole or by individual school. I can't speak from experience, but I can tell you the district doesn't have the greatest reputation.
Second consideration is that not all of Winfield goes to West Chicago schools, the east side attends Wheaton's district 200 schools, which is an excellent district.
Finally, someone asked a very similar question a few weeks back, so you may want to do a search on this board to read some additional responses.
