Window Shade Repair
Hi moms, I hope you can help me. I have a Hunter-Douglas duet shade on my living room window which measures 128" wide and 72" top to bottom. I noticed the middle part of my shade was sagging a little as I was trying to pull it up. After I looked further, I noticed the cord in the middle of the shade was snapped. I purchased this shade from a decorator many years ago, maybe 17. I still like my shade and it goes perfect in my room. My problem is I don't know who to call to get it fixed. Can it be fixed? I do not want to call the decorator. Sending it to Hunter Douglas is expensive to ship and fix. I was hoping I could be bring it somewhere local. The western suburbs would be great. If anyone has some suggestions please let me know. I read Mamasource everyday and moms are very helpful in coming up with ideas to help others.

I would contact Hunter Douglas and explain the situation. See if they can recommend a dealer in your area. Or call a reputable window tx business in your area and, if they carry Hunter Douglas, see if they can help. You might be surprised at what companies are willing to do to promote positive customer relations and spread positive news about how they conduct business, especially in this economy. Good luck!

Hi R.,
I used to sell H.D. treatments in the western suburbs... that is a big blind!! Try to just put Blind+repair+your suburb name in your browser.. I put in Aurora, and a big list of repair places came up... There used to be a husband/wife team that would come right to your home to restring the blinds.. especially one that big... but I can't remember their company name.. good luck!

Try Aurora Blind and Shade. I have some Pella "between the pane" shades, and the sun is very hard on them. When the strings break, they will come out to restring. Their number is ###-###-####. I haven't called them in a few years, but I hope this works for you!

R.,
I use a place in Joliet (not far form the mall not downtown), it is called Louvers Lane on Theodore St. Their phone number is ###-###-####, they are quick & very reasonably priced, I have always dropped my blinds off for fixing, but you have a large blind maybe they can come to you & restring for you. Good Luck!
K.
