Willmaker Software

Has anyone ever used the "Willmaker" software? I would like to use it because we can't afford to hire the lawyer right now.

We used www.legacywriter.com
It worked great for us. Similar to a software program, but over the internet. You put in all the info and then you can print out the whole legal document with your specific info in there. Then you sign with the witnesses and I think notarize it if I remember right. We did it over 3 years ago. I want to say it was only around $50.

if you just need simple wills - no trusts, etc. Contact me offline - I work for an attorney and I can get you forms for free. ____@____.com

This should really depend upon how intricate your will needs to be. If it is going to involve guardians for the kids, inheritance, etc, etc, etc...you may want to consider consulting a lawyer. I used to work for a lawyer and there have been many times that people who passed had a will...but it was insufficient for what it was calling for. Even if you do not have the money to hire a lawyer at this time, consulting one to get an idea of what needs to be done could be a great help.

If your will is just going to be "standard" then the programs could be fine. Good luck!

I've never used it, But my brother helps people who cant afford lawyers for things like fraud, legal matters, etc. It basically a prepaid legal service that costs like $35 a month. I know, it sounds like a scam, I always tease him about it. If you want more info, let me know. I know they hold seminars and he gave me a dvd (i have yet to watch) so I know those are available. It covers tons of legal stuff, like wills - which you can update every year with no extra fee.

We bought the Suze Orman CD's and that had a will, trust and other documents on it. It easy to use. Much less than an attorney!!
