Okay, I got my girls a Wii for Christmas, but I honestly don't know a darn thing about the system. My girls are 10 and 11, and all I really need to know is what are some games that have gone over really well for girls of that age. Also what accessories are recommended both to get and to avoid. Thanks!

My 9 yr old loves the wii playground game, its handball, paper plane flying, easy introductory games that has her better at controlling the remote so she can play harder games with her sister. My 13 yr old thought it was a "baby" game at first, but she actually enjoys playing, too (just wouldn't let her friends know..haha!).
Good luck, and beware of wii addiction in mom's, too!! I love guitar hero!

I def. agree about getting Wii Play so that you will have the 2nd remote and then the next game I would buy is the Wii Fit-my kids love it! It really is lots of fun...going to Blockbuster is a great idea, however, make sure you have all the controls you need before renting...HTH

We bought a Wii when they first came out and we LOVE it. Our daughter is 13 now.

I recommend getting more remotes. If your daughter's play together or with friends, you need more remotes. We have 4 remotes, 2 of the chuks for the boxing game, and 2 guitars.

Mario Cart is a hit. Guitar Hero is a lot of fun. As mentioned the Sports package is a lot of fun as well. My daughter has SIMS games, Harry Potter, Animal Crossing and some others.

If you have a gamecube, those games will work with the Wii.

We will probably be purchasing the steering wheel for Mario and the Wii Fit game this year.

We have really enjoyed the Wii. It has enhanced family time at our home, the sports package has you up and moving, and guitar brings out your inner rock star!!

Enjoy!!

when i bought our Wii I also bought an extra remote, and num chucks. It comes with lots of game already, but we bought Wii sports. I think it comes with Wii Play. Its one or the other, but we have both. We know have guaitar Hero with 2 guaitars, Rock Band That comes with drums, mic, and guitar. My daughter bought the Wheel for mario cart and then we rent the game. They like playing their game cube games on it too. I never buy games with out the kids trying them first. We rent them for a week, and if they like it and will keep playing it I check at Block Buster or Entertain Mart for a USED one. You might want to go to Entertain Mart on Cooper in Arlington and pick up a Remote charger. They are like 19.99 last time we were in there.(week ago)This will save buying batteries, also get some extra remotes for the rest of the family, or maybe friends. Wii remote has covers u can get. They come in different colors. We have them so the kids know which remote is theirs. Have fun with it. Make sure the kids wear the hand strap.

I second Mario Cart! I also like Outdoor Challenge - which is a set with a game pad. Mario Party 8 is great as well.

We are getting a wii too, and have been wondering the same thing. I have seen good things about the disney singing game, if your girls are into that. I know that the new wii music game is rumored to be a big deal. We also got the wii fit, I cant wait to try it!! I was told to buy the wii play game, as it comes with a remote too. It is 49.99 I think, but it is 39 just for the remote at toys r us. I agree that using a few simple games at first, and then adding games later is good. Although, I always hear from everyone that Mario Kart is the game to have. We shall see. Good luck, lets all hope the kids love it!!

Wii Play is great for anyone. It comes with an extra controller which is really nice to have. It basically teaches you the different skills with the wii remotes (and the nunchucks)in a series of fun games. All the different games on there are great fun. It is a great place to start. My son is the one that plays the game for now, so I don't really have any specific girl-game ideas.

My son did play a cooking game at his friend's (6yr old girl)house that they both enjoyed.

If you've never played it, you are going to love it too. Wii's are really fun!

I also recommend Wii Play. It's a really good price for getting both the game and another remote. We found ours at Best Buy. My kids are 11 and 7, and have played it a lot. Keep an eye on the bargain bins at Walmart - sometimes you can find games that are marked down.

We have had the WII for a little over a year now. The whole family has alot of fun with with. It comes with WII sports which has some really fun games. Our favorite is Bowling.

We have the WII Fit and Rock Band. Every kid that comes over to our house wants to play those 2 games. But just want to worn you that they are the 2 hardest to find and most expensive games. But they are alot of fun and it gets the whole family playing...

I would also suggest that you get another remote control(it only comes with one). You may want to start out with the WII Sports that comes with it and then let the girls go pick out a game after Christmas.

Give them the Wii first as it comes with the sports package. Then RENT games from blockbuster $8 a pop....to see which ones they REALLY like before investing 50$ for a game they may not care for...

The system will only come with one remote - if you buy Wii Play it come with another remote for just a little more than you would spend on a second remote. Mario Party 8 is a good family game (more players means buying more remotes though) and your four yr old can play some of those games.
Then I would just get them gift cards to rent games (Blockbuster and Hastings both have good selections) and let them choose. Some games can be solved and are no longer in a week or sound good but are too difficult so renting pays off
