I am getting the Nintendo wii for our family this Christmas. How many controllers and/or nunchucks do we need? Does each person need one or do we share? Any game recomendations for a 3 year old?

What can I do next?

Depends on how many folks are going to play. You need one for each person if you are playing a game where everyone plays at the same time. Even for games where you take turns (like the bowling or tennis). We have other games, like Mario Racing, where you race all at the same time. We have three kids and bought 4 controllers as we have a neighborhood child who comes over a lot. My daughter has a friend who brings her controller along when she comes to stay the night. Don't know about games for the little ones as my youngest just turned 15 - yikes.

Just wanted to add that the rechargeable battery packs do have docking stations available for use with a regular ac outlet. That's what we have, we don't have to plug our battery packs into our computer which is nice since computer is upstairs and Wii is down. I really recommend the battery packs. They save a ton on batteries.

Hi, we love our WII, good choice!!!! You will each need a controller and Nunchuk. Some games use just the remote and some games use the WIImote and nunchuk. My 3 1/2 yr old loves to play Maternational(Disney Pixar Cars race), Monster Jam(Monster Trucks) and Mario Kart(racing). He's gotten really good at too. Also depending on how often you think you'll be playing, we bought these rechargeable battery packs for the WIImote(remote) that you plug into your computer when the battery gets low, to recharge. It's lots cheaper than to keep buying batteries and the battery pack wasn't that expensive. You can find the accessories(stearing wheal, tennis racket, etc) cheap at stores like $5 Below.

I also wanted to add that games for the Nintendo Gamecube which came out a long time ago, work in the WII as well. You just need to plug a gamecube controller into the WII. You should be able to find the Gamecube games used, pretty cheaply at stores like Gamestop.

You can share them for some games (bowling and one player games), but if you are going to be playing all at the same time, then you need a controller and nunchuk (and steering wheel, depending on the game) for each player.

Yeah, every player needs a wii controller and nunchuck. I don't think you can share. Hubby and I could never share a controller, especially for the sport games. I hear that wii music is pretty awesome, but not sure what age it starts for. don't forget the wii controller rubber grip. they come in different colors. I like one particular controller which i"ve marked as mine with a pink rubber grip.
