Wife Is 12 Weeks PP - No Period, Breastfeeding, Cramping, Nauseous, Pregnant?

My wife is 11 weeks pp and 1 1/2 weeks ago we had unprotected sex 1 time. It was on Aug.19th early AM. Since this she has not had a period. On Sunday Morning, Aug 22, she had some minor bleeding that was red and pink that lasted for 3 days on and off. Also since then she has had cramping. She has been breastfeeding the whole time with a couple bottle supplements a day of juice to help with my son’s bowels. On Aug 22 we took a pregnancy test and were negative. On the 26th she took another test and was negative. Does this sound like she is pregnant? She did not have a period before and no signs of ovulating around the time of sex. Only 3 1/2 days after on the 22nd, which seems too soon to be implantation bleeding. Could it just be her body getting back on track? When should we test for the most accurate test if we don’t know when her period would be? Thanks

***UPDATE*** So Wednesday, September 1st, she tested again and it was negative. Again today, September 3rd, she tested with another brand of pregnancy test and it was negative. It has now been 16 days since we had sex. Since the last post above, she has been really sick the last two days (nauseous, throwing up, getting dizzy, diarrhea) on and off as well as cramping the whole time (Sometimes Strong) so from her previous experiences with having two kids and how she felt, she feels like she is pregnant. Some things to note, my wife started exercising and she has been very emotional during this. She also has had previous issues with ovarian cysts and endometriosis. Can nerves create these symptoms, flu? When should we test to know for sure she is or is not pregnant? Thanks in advance to everyone who has commented.

Regardless of whether she is pregnant, or not, she should probably go see her doctor. The doctor will be able to tell if she is, and if she's not, will hopefully have some answers about the symptoms.

It probably is just her body getting back to normal.
My hubby and I had sex about 6 weeks after my son was born. I kinda had the same symptoms you're talking about and wasn't pregnant.

Breastfeeding does A LOT to change your body. I didn't have my period for almost a year after my son was born.
Keep taking tests or go see a Dr. if you are nervous about it.

I wouldn't have the patience to wait a week, much less 2... but by 2 weeks y'all should know for sure.

"Irish Twins" are common in my family (so are traditional multiples). 3 of my cousins were actually "3 under 2", because they were all a little early. Some of my aunts didn't have a period for over 5 years they caught so quickly after birth... while other's passed on their periods for over 10 years... because they didn't get it back at all during a year of nursing, and were pregnant again by the end of that year.

She could very easily be pregnant. She could also very easily just be yo-yoing with the cysts/endo/& lactation hormones. If you don't want to wait 1-2 weeks, I'd suggest the doctor.

I didn't get my period for a few months pp. It happens when you are strictly breastfeeding. When is she going back to see her ob? You might consider talking about birth control with the ob if you are not ready to have more just yet. I hope she feels better soon. Ginger tea is really good for nausea and cramping. Mint tea may help also. Rice, bananas, toast and yogurt. Hope she feels better soon.

She needs to call her OB/GYNE she needs to be tested for endometritis, strep infection or other infection. She needs to make sure she is not ill over pregnant, but if she is pregnant she needs to start pre-natal care early if it is a stacked pregnancy as her body has not had alot of recovery time. It is possible to breastfeed and not get any or very light periods for up to a 1 post delivery. The other symptoms suggest other problems, possibly even a retained piece of placenta. So get on the phone, if the OB puts you off and says see you after the holiday weekend, get pushy or call another or go to the ER.

i felt like i was pregnant for almost 6 months after my daughter was born, i couldnt tell you how many pregnancy tests i had taken. Her period will come, since shes breastfeeding it might take a little longer. I too have been having a problem with ovarian cysts lately and ive been super nauseous with headaches and dizzy spells. it could possibly have something to do with that. Tell her to set up an appointment as soon as possible to figure out whats going on. in the mean time, try not to stress it too much, if all the tests are negative then chances are shes not pregnant.

There's always a chance of pregnancy when engaging in unprotected sex. If I were you, I would schedule a doctor's appointment. Even if your wife isn't pregnant, something else could be going on.

Good luck!

Agree with everyone about having her see a doctor to rule out infection. It takes a while for your body to go back to normal post partum. And if you are breastfeeding, your period won't come back for a while (I'm still nursing my 14 mos. old and haven't had a period yet). Bear in mind, you burn TONS of calories nursing so if she isn't getting enough nutrients or drinking enough water, you can definitely feel sick/nauseous. Still, the best thing to do is to see a doctor!

I hope that by now she has seen her physician or gone to an Immediate Care Center or Urgent Aid center. Maybe a pelvic ultrasound or CT scan should be done?

Sounds to me like she needs to call her dr, she may have some kind of infection going on. Since she's breastfeeding its very normal not to have a period (but doesn't mean you can't get pregnant). I notice for me, since I'm breastfeeding, sometimes I feel nausiated when I don't drink enough water, but since she's actually throwing up I would definitly call the dr.

Sounds like she may have a uterine infection. She should see s OB ASAP just for safty sake also they can take a blood test to determine pregnancy as it is probably to soon to use a home test. Also the breast feeding will wart off a period at any given time. Hope this helps.

Your wife really needs to call her doctor. These symptoms could indicate a number of things (pregnancy being only one of them) and she should definitely get it checked out ASAP. Don't wait any longer.

Remember, breastfeeding is NOT birth control, so unless you are ready for another baby, make sure to use protection from now on.
