Wierd Symptoms....Help
Okay, this is the craziest question I am about to ask! I am either pregnant or going completely crazy! What would you do?? P.S. This is not a joke as crazy as it sounds! The last week off and on it feels like something is moving in my lower abdomen - it feels like what it felt like when I was pregnant and the baby would move! Seriously! For the last 3 days, I have been have feeling this more frequently (a lot more frequently). I am heavy for my height, so "no" I don't see anything moving on my belly -but I have been looking and I can feel these 'flutters' when I place my hand on my belly when they are happening. I have NOT missed any periods, as a matter of fact, I am having my cycle right now along with the "movement feelings". I have had regular periods and not missed ANY! Some of them lately have been 'light' for me, but they vary so I was not concerned. I have continuously been taking my BCP and I am on the progestin-only pill. I have not been feeling ill - no vomiting. In my 1st pregnancy I had horrible morning sickness for 7 months; 2nd pregnancy I suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum (severe morning sickness symptoms entire pregnancy). Yes, I am exhausted constantly - but that really is a norm for me! I am a little heavier right now, but I figured it is bloating from my period, which always happens. I went and got a pregnancy test from the drugstore last night just to see what would happen and it came up negative. I am kind of freaking out! What do I do? I fear any OBGYN will think I am nuts if I beg them to work me into their schedules! And I don't have a doctor at the moment b/c mine recently retired and I have't picked a new one out yet. I really think this is wierd and I just wanted to know what would you do? What should I do? Any advice?
So What Happened?™
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Everyone for all your responses and assuring me I am not completely nuts! This is such a great online community. I have not felt any of the 'flutters' today so far. I have made an appointment with my GP just to be on the safe side as many of you suggested. I will say I 'googled' phantom baby kicks and was amazed at all the info I found, it does describe exactly what I was feeling. Wierd!
Thanks again for all the advice and rest assured I am going to my doc to get checked out!
Okay...another update...I am NOT pregnant, my GP said it was most likely "gas" and recommended an anti-gas pill. He did also say that those feelings are common in mother's b/c our sensitivity in that area is heightened due to having children. So, many of you were right after all! I do want to thank you all again for being so supportive, for all your good advice, and for the reassurance that I wasn't going crazy :o)

I am so glad you asked! I am doing the same thing and I thought that I was losing it!!! I had a test come back positive a couple of weeks ago on Sunday, but then my doctor's office told me that I had a miscarriage the following Tuesday. I have 2 kids also, but I'm still having the fluttering feelings. Please let me know what you find out. I also have PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome), so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Go to the doctor. No one will think you're crazy, that's why they're there. It will make you feel better. Call today. And let us all know what you find out.

I know you're not going to believe me but it's probably gas. I had the same thing happen recently and it freaked me out too. I went and took a pregnancy test and it was negative. After paying much attention to my body I realized that's what it was. I didn't have any symptoms of pregnancy either, just the flutters. I hope this helps.

It would definately be worth a visit to the doctor to get checked, they can do a quick blood test or an ultrasound to make sure you aren't pregnant. (HPTs can be false AND they often only work in the first few months of pregnancy while your body is secreting the hormone they pick up.) The progesterone-only pill has a higher failure rate than the combo pills, and they can make you have a period when you wouldn't otherwise. Even if it is just gas, the doctor won't think you're crazy for making sure. A friend of mine didn't realize she was pregnant until she felt her baby kick! You don't want to be taking the pill if you are, so better be safe than sorry!

Dear M.,
First of all, it's nice to finally meet someone who KNOWS what the heck hyperemesis gravidarum is. I suffered through it during my 2nd pregnancy (Only Child). I ended up in the hospital for a large portion of my first trimester being fed intraveniously. I'm not happy that you had it - it's just nice to meet another survivor... =)
As far as the "feelings" you are having... I do NOT think you are the LEAST bit crazy - even after the negative pregnancy test. One of my best friends in high school did not know that she was pregnant until two weeks before she gave birth. She had take MULTIPLE pregnancy tests - all negative, had a regular cycle every month, I think she even had a blood pregnancy test done that came back negative. She finally felt the baby move (just a little, went to the doctor - they did an ultrasound and there was the baby.
When the baby was born, she had less than a cup of amniotic fluid around her in the womb. The doctor's told my friend that her baby would most likely be retarded and/or developmentally delayed. However, by the Grace of God - my friend's baby girl was absolutely beautiful and developed quite normally.
Even if it does turn out to be "nothing." I would rather be safe and err on the side of caution and get checked. Best of Luck & let me know what you find out. God Bless.
M.

It could be something as simple as gas moving through your intestines, or something more serious.
Do you have any pain when you feel these movements? If not, I would think it's probably gas, and not worry about it.
If you are having pain, or, if your stomach starts getting larger and feels somewhat hard when you push on it in certain places, it could be a tumor. When you stand up from a seated position, does it feel like something heavy inside 'drops' in your abdomen? Do you ever feel a severe pain, or feel like you can't walk without help?
I ask those questions because, after my last c-section, within a few months of the surgery, I started having pain in my abdomen, and when I would stand up, it felt like a bowling ball would drop in my stomach. I often was in severe pain, and sometimes I couldn't walk without help.
I went to my ob/gyn over and over and he kept telling me it was a pelvic infection. I insisted it wasn't, but took the pills (over 60 antibiotics in total while seeing this idiot), and finally I got a second opinion, this time from a gastrointerologist.
As soon as I laid down on the table in the gastrointerologists office, he said he knew something was wrong, and immediately ordered a cat scan. I am overweight, myself, so my stomach should have 'spread' out a little flat when lying on my back. It did't - it stood straight up.
Well, turns out I had a very large and very fast-growing dermoid tumor or cyst as some call it. The pain I was feeling was something called 'torsion' where the tumor was being twisted around inside of me by the things attaching it to my ovary. The 'drop' feeling I was having when I stood up really was the tumor dropping inside my body, and the difficult walking was from the pressure of the tumor on my pelvis.
The tumor ended up being about 12 pounds. My last baby was 9 pounds...they had to cut my c-section scar larger than for my baby, just to get this thing out. They also had to remove my left ovary. If I had not sought a second opinion, it would have kept growing and could have burst at some point.
The point is, if you feel something is wrong, don't take just one doctor's opinion. Go to as many doctors as you need to. If you haven't already seen one, make an appointment right away.
Could very well be just gas if you have been eating a lot of high-fiber foods lately, but it could be something like an ectopic pregnancy or whatever. With my tumor, it was made up of hair, teeth and skin tissue among other things. It felt like a baby moving inside me. Very weird and freaky when I knew I couldn't be pregnant...

Honey i have honestly have hd the same thing going on and never missed a period.. but the difference i wanted a baby... that's why i thought it was that.... it's actually gas flutters and the reason they feel like a baby moving now to you is b/c you know what it feels like to have a child move inside of you... from your previous pregnancy... you have always had them you just didn't notice them as much b/4 b/c you had never experienced being pregnant and feeling your child move

I recently started having the same problem I went to see my GYN. and he did a sonogram and the results was a small tumer but its not cancerous or anything like that just that some women produce these and that they can feel just like a baby kicking! I did the same thing you did I took a preg. test with a neg. result and I was also menstrating but with my first two kids I had 5 months of menstrating and I was pregnant with my first two kiddos. I would go to see your doctor and tell them your symptoms don't think that they're think you're nuts for your totally sane! I'm sure they've heard alot of crazier stuff in their line of work! Just remember you're not the first person to have this feeling! But its best for you to find out what is up! Better be safe then sorry! Good luck, Hugs!
