Wich Formula Is the Best

if you havnt already i would absolutly try good start supreme.
it was like magic for my son. combined with the doctor browns bottle i never had any gas problems. it was like i had a diffent baby...he was previously on simalic and was always spitting up and had a lot of gas. this was lifesaver for my son and I.

Try nutramagen. I t worked for my son and a couple of nieces and nephews. I would swear by this formula.

Maybe it's not so much the formula as the bottle. I used the playtex drop-ins for my daughter and it virtually eliminated her gas. I swear by these bottles.

I personally highly recommend mylicon drops even though your question is about formula. Sometimes the bottles also play a key role.Dr.Brown's bottles are really good. Hope all works out.

I had the same problem with both of my sons. It definetly is not normal to only have stools every couple days. He is constipated and that is what is causing the gas. I ended up putting my babies on Carnation Good Start. I tried all the very expensive formulas( Nutramigen, Soy, Lactosse Free) but the best ended up being Good Start. Also be careful with the Mylecon drops because that also caused constipation for my babies. It helped at first but ended up only making the gas problem worse i the end. Mylecon is great occasionally, but did my babies more harm than good. Good luck

One of my girls had the same problem. After numerous formulas we found Enfamil Prosobee with Lipil worked best for her. Enfamil also has formula with low iron which may help with the constipation. You may also want to try switching bottles. Some bottles are better than others on cutting down on gas. We use Vent-Air by playtex. Good luck!

Carnation Good Start will help with the gas problem & my girls were fine with it. Plus it is one of the lesser expensive ones! Also the gas drops available over the counter help too.

My son was constipated from almost day one. We switched formulas so many times. Finally we went to Good Start Soy. It was great for him. He didn't have those big spit ups as well. My doctor told me that the other formulas had too much iron for my son and he needed something like soy. So now at 10 months old, he's still drinking it.

I think the Dr. Brown's bottles are wonderful. I did the playtex bag ones for my first 2 kids to try to avoid the gas... I have had better success with the D. Brown's and to be honest even though there are numerous parts (dish washer safe) they were less trouble than the Playtex at feeding time. Dr. Brown's may be a pain for someone not using a dishwasher but I would swear by them now!!

I swore by Enfamil Low Iron

First, you can put Mylecon drops in the bottles to help with gas. We use to do this to our son. Only put the recommended dosage for the baby. Any drops with simethicone will work. Also, it is totally normal for a tiny baby to not go for several days. You Pedi won't even do anything until they haven't gone for like a week.

I dont really think there is a "best" brand of formula. I think it's whatever works well for your child. We used Similac. She had gas with it in the beginning. Then i switched bottles from the avent to the playtex ventaire ones. That helped so much.

My son did well with Good Start supreme and advent bottles. Mylecon drops helped when he would get bad gas, which wasn't often on that formula. (I had tried many others also with no luck.) I also learned to make absolutely sure my son had a great big burp once during and once after each feeding. It could have shaken the house, but it helped with the gas. Also, he only went every 2-3 days also no matter the formula. It didn't seem to bother him and I think this is normal for formula fed babies.

you have alot of good suggestions, so i'll try to keep it simple...YES, most formula is the same. we use similac, they have a "new" formula w/ less bubble for ALL the products. the dr. told me that it's normal to not have a bowel movement that often at 1st. for her 1st 3 months she was only going every couple of days...once you start giving food, it will be MORE often. but she said it's because it's all liquid, there's not going to be alot of stool. as for the gas. we used the playtex with the drop-ins until she was 6 months, that worked wonders because you push all the air out b4 they drink (just make sure if you put the bottle down, immediately put the cap on, because it'll just put all that air back in!). after 6 months we went to the ventaire...they work good too! if you want, talk to his dr. and see if the dr. has a preference on what kind of drops you can use for gas (we never used them though). i hope you find something that works for you...but every child is different (my friend had to used a different formula each of her 3 children, so it's pretty much trial and error with that!). good luck!

My son was a very gassey baby as well. I believe the bulk of the problem was due to iron as practically everything is fortified with iron. I breastfed him until he was 10 months old and no matter the changes to my diet he had gas issues. At 10 months he started using formula and I purchased the type without ANY iron in it (Similaac with a green label), which was difficult to find. I also didn't feed him baby cereal as it is iron fortified (even the organic cereals) and it produced the same results.

I have a four month old son and I have the same problem with him. Firstly, try using dr brown bottle for him because with other bottles you will see bubles in the bottle. Dr brown bottle you see no or little bubbles as far as you follow their rules.
Your son having once a day poop is okay, I was just like you couple of weeks ago. Also the dr brown will not eliminate the gas completely but it will reduce it( you are really not doing anything wrong it is just that those little creatures just don,t know how to pass the gas well yet...but the dr brown will just reduce gas so they dont have to pass too many gas). The gas will stop in about 8-13 weeks even if you do nothing( please stick to any formula that you are using.....trying never solve problem). I can imagine how you really feel. Also use ready to feed formula to eradicate any problem like constipation as most new baby dont do well with the formula mix that we do for them as we dont get the accurate amount of powder especially our first weeks of busy parenting. People will say try lactose free, less iron, emfamil, carnation...but physically your baby is just adapting to the new life...try to just sooth the little prince with what ever you can do because i know how you feel of your newly born prince going through such pain. Try using mylicon drops ....it will also not stop it.....you just need to buy time untill he can pass gas comfortably. Which is always btw 8-13 weeks for most child.

Im not sure if you have already tried it or not, but my daughter is on similac advance with Iron and she has not had any problems with it. Have you tried a soy formula? I hear its better for thier stomach to digest. I know that with formula fed babies, they have stool less often then breatfed babies. The breast milk is easier on baby's stomachs and digests quickly. Stool about every other day is normal for formula fed babies. My daughter was the same way. She went like 2-3 tmes a day when she was on breast milk, but once she was soley on formula it stopped to about once every other day.
