Why Is It Taking So Long to Get Pregnant?

M. - I wish that I could tell you that I had great success with Ovulation Kits, but honestly, I thought they sucked. Have you thought about getting a Fertility Monitor? I know that they are expensive, but is probably worth the money over those tests. Any way you go about it, I wish you the best of luck.

I have used the ovulation kits and they work ok. I bought a Clear Plan Easy (the little computer type one) and that was awsome. I would suggest that, but it is expensive. I still have mine if you would be interested, you have to buy the test sticks but there are ways to reset it so my info would be out of it. Let me know!

An even better method than the OPK's (which can get expensive) is to buy the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." The author promotes the Fertility Awareness Method which involves taking your basal body temperature every morning as well as monitoring your cervical mucous. In my opinion, it's much better and more accurate. www.fertilityfriend.com is also a great way to track your temps and such if you don't want to do it on paper.

I have a strange question, what kind of condition is your body in? It is possible your body is not in optimal state for getting pregnant. I know some people that had a really hard time, starting taking antioxidants to get the toxins out of their bodies and ended up pregnant in a few months. It is something you can keep taking while you are pregnant to help alleviate health issues as well and build your immune system.

Just sending (((HUGS))) My husband and I are on our 4th cycle of trying. We used OPKs last cycle and this cycle. Obviously it didn't work last cycle but hopefully they will be helpful this time around. Good luck to you! I know how hard it is. I made no effort what so ever to get pregnant with my son. So I know how frustrating it can be to be trying and not getting pregnant.

I used the Ovulation Monitor for about 6 months and I was not pregnant yet, so I started temping, and the second month that I started temping I got pregnant. Sometimes it is just getting to know your body and when you do ovulate. Good luck and I hope that it happends for you really soon.

join www.fertilityfriend.com. Take your temp. the same time each morning and log it into the software and it'll tell you the go ahead to "do it". Checking cervical mucus really helps too.

I usually have a 28 day cycle so they tell you ovulation should occur around day 14 of your cycle. So, if you are regular I'd suggest just doing it on CD10, 12, 14, 16, and 18. You should get pregnant in no time.

Speak to an infertility doctor. Usually after one year of trying and no baby they will see you especially after you've conceived previously. They may see you after 6 months of trying too. e-mail me if you have questions ____@____.com

Have you tried tracking your basal body temperature at all? I used the website www.fertilityfriend.com (its free for a basic membersip) and had great success getting PG the first time around. Good luck!

I also suggest taking your temp before getting out of bed and charting it on fertilityfriend.com. This can help you understand what is going on with your body. If according to that, you are not ovulating, then I would suggest going to your OB or an RE and having hormone labs ran. My oldest daughter took us 4 1/2 years to concieve, 2 miscarriages, and lots of fertility treatments. My second was also 2 miscarriages and fertility treatments. Being able to see what is going on with your cycle by temping is a good way for you to see, and Dr's to see if you are having any hormonal issues also. Good luck! It took me 7 months to get pregnant with my daughter and I was young and healthy. It just takes time! Be patient I'm sure you will be blessed. By the time I bought a ovulation predictor I didn't need it. It's been sitting in the box for over 5 years now and cost about 100 dollars.

Do you use your Ov Kit in the AM or PM? I read that it takes several hours after ovulation for the hormone to be strong enough to register on the kit. Since many women ovulate in the early morning, your kit won't actually register you've ovulated until the NEXT day if you're using your kit in the AM and by then you've already missed your window. We got pregnant the first month I switched to taking the kit at night. Maybe it was just a fluke but it's worth a try.

I used a Ovulation Predictor test where I pee'd on the stick and it told me when I was ovulating... it still took 3 months, but once I figured out my cycle, it worked! Second time around only took 1 month! :)

My husband and I tried for almost a year to get pregnant and finally my doctor said to try the Ovulation Predictor kit so I did, and got pregnant the first time using it. I bought the kind at Target and you get 7 tests in them. The directions tell you when to use them (AM or PM, I can't remember now). I never knew when I ovulated so this told me when to try and now we have a 16 month old daughter! Good luck!

I used it twice and have 2 little boys to prove that it worked for me. (-: We tried for 2 1/2 years to get pregnant with our first child. We did all the tests and that stuff and then I learned about the Ovulation Kits and 3 months later I was pregnant. Since it took us so long to get pregnant the first time we thought we should try a little sooner for our second...used the kit and that month it worked immediately and now our boys are 18 months apart and best friends. The kit I used was...Clear Plan Easy Fertility Monitor. It's a little more pricey but I was ever so glad for it!! It helped me relax too, cause I knew exactly what was going on with my body and I wasn't trying to play guessing games as to when was the "best time". Good Luck!!

I use clear blue easy or first response. They both have 7 tests in them, wich you might need the extra ones, if your cycle varies by a couple of days each month. I was having fertility issues. They worked for me twice. I miscarried my first, and used the kits again and 2 tries later I was pregnant with my son. They say you can use them at any time of the day, but you should test at the same time each day and reduce your fluid intake about 2 hours before you test. Although they say you can test any time of the day, I believe I read (or my doctor told me) that after 10:30 am is best. Although I can't remember why. I think it has to do with your hormones leveling out during the day. Once you get the positive test, my doctor told me that it was time to get the hubby involved. The dr said 3 days in a row after a positive. And it's important to remember that alot has to go just right to get pregnant. So it might take a couple of tries.

We had trouble also and here's what the fertility specialist had us do. Start taking your temperature every morning, BEFORE getting out of bed and put it on a piece of graph paper. When your temperature jumps up and then down that is when you should be ovulating. I also went and got an ovulation test and took the test when that happened and it was positive. I got pregnant that day.
Generally, you should be ovulating 14 days before you expect to get your next period. So, if you think you'll be getting it on Sep. 28th then you should be ovulating on Sep. 14th.
Go on a website like babycenter.com and I think they even have the sample charting graphs that you can print right off and use. There's also more information on there.
