Why Does It Hurt So Much When She Moves Around Now?

Im just curious because my daughter seems to either A:be really strong or B: something else is wrong. So Im asking your advice. When she moves now she hurts me so bad. Expecially in the groin area, at the bend of my legs. It feels like she is scrapping something against me. Almost as if she isnt in her placenta anymore. The pain usually bends me over when she moves. Should her movesments be this painful at 36 wks? Just curious. My son was born at 36 weeks last time and he never felt like this. I also noticed that my "normal yellow discharge" has turned clear. I tried to smell it because I read online that if your water breaks or leaks it should be sweet smelling well I cant smell anything, I dont know if its just me unable to smell or if it just has no odor. Curious to what you might think. Oh and there has been no gushing or leaking of fluids so Im not sure why it hurts so bad.
Thanks in Advance for all your input. :)

I carried my forth child different I guess, because when he kicked or moved sometimes it felt like he hit a nerve, & I'd almost jump out of my chair. I'd just ask the Dr., but probably the baby is just laying in an odd spot.

I would contact your dr. right away - even after hours and leave a message to have your call returned. I know that is the advice of many people. You can never be too cautious when you're this far along. You can ask for a non-stress test. They hook up to the fetal monitor and you push a button every time the baby moves. If the heart rate drops then the baby could be in distress. If the heart rate goes up then that is "normal". You could also have a sonogram to check the position, placenta, etc. I don't want to scare you with my personal story but you can read my profile to get the very brief version. If you have even a fleeting thought or doubt that something may be wrong go to the ER or call your dr. don't hestitate or think it isn't a big deal. It is better to be safe or wrong then have something to be really wrong and not be addressed.

I had a lot of pain at the end of my pregnancy. In my case i just had a very active baby putting pressure on all the right nerves.if you are worried go to the doctorand have it checked dont worry what they think it is better safe than sorry. They might start monitoring you it is a big relief to hear that babies heart beat every week.I had to go in once a week for 30 moin they would wrap the little monitor on my tummy and watch for contractions and monitor the babies heartbeat it was at least peace of mind.

I think you should call your doctor. This could be just a big baby. Either way, call the doc.

Believe it or not N. little girls are so much more painful then little boys. I was having the same issues with my daughter then I did with my boys. I have 3 boys and my last one was a girl. I was so big I could not move and spent the last week before going into labor in great pain, so much so that I had to take materinity leave early. I could not walk or get comfortable. And I had my daughter 3 weeks early and it was like a blessing, because I am postive I could not have gone 3 more weeks feeling the pressure I was having. My boys were uncomfortable, but never really painful until I went into labor. I would ask your doctor just to be on the safe side.

I recommend you call your ob/gyn too just to be on the safe side.

With my last two pregnancies, I had very sharp pain in my groin area the last few weeks. The pain was not constant, but would seem to come out of nowhere. Very sharp pain. I believe they told me it was the baby's head really pressing down.

Morning N.,
The discharge could be amniotic fluid - it is clear. Call your doctor. I am a doula and if you need to talk, let me know. The moving around could be baby adjusting for birth. Every pregnancy is different. This one might just be more active than you son!

Call your doctor immediately. Sometimes you can get a small tear and the amninoctic (sorry misspelled)fluid can start to leak and those pains you are feeling could possibly be contractions (I'm not saying that is what is happening but it's possible). It may be nothing but it's better to be safe than sorry. Thats my philosophy. Good luck and congratulations. And keep us posted. I'll be praying for you.

My second pregnancy was more uncomfortable than my first. My doctor said it was partly because my body was "softer" after the first pregnancy, and so sensations were more noticeable. For instance, I was frequently getting pains in my stomach/abdominal area that felt like my musles were ripping apart! In the end, every pregnancy is different (and no, it has nothing to do with the sex of the child -- I had three girls, and three very different experiences).

I'm assuming you've talked to your OB/GYN about your concerns? That is really your best bet at this point. Call your doctor today!

I would definately recommend you call your ob if you are concerned. However, with all 3 of my girls I had what you are talking about all through out my pregnancies. When I talked to my doctor about it he told me it was because I was just carrying so low and let me know it would get worse the further along I got. It did!!! It was motivation for me to do some serious walking to try to speed things along...lol

I would call your dr. and talk to the nurse. It will put your mind at ease at least for them to say it is normal and not to worry. But definitly tell them you are not sure if your water is leaking or not because I had the same problem (I just couldn't tell the difference) and the dr. said it is most common for a small leak than a big gush. They did this test and sure enough I had my son 9 hours later!

I would call my Dr. and have an ultrasound. It does get painful at the end, but it sounds like that baby might be ready to get OUT! I would find out for sure. It should not hurt this much. You might be low in fluids and they need to get her out if that's the case. That happened with my 2nd child, he is now almost 5, and they took him by C-Section 3 weeks early. He was perfect and healthy as a horse!

Good luck!

I'm first pregnancy was an ectopic pregnancy that I was unaware of until I ended up in the hospital with the tube about to burst.

During my second pregnancy, I had pains early on that sent me into a panic thinking I was going through the same thing. It took a simple call to the doctor to learn that it was a round ligament contraction. My body was just adjusting to the growing baby and the need for more abdominal support.

I did not have my water break with either of my successful pregnancies. The first time they broke the sack at the hospital. The second time there just wasn't much fluid in the sack.

Call the doctor and pamper yourself. I'd put my feet up and relax. It does sound like gravity has the baby riding low trying to sneak its way out.

My second child was a break dancer. She drove me nuts spinning around on her head and kicking me in the stomach.

Please call your doctor. You should not be in pain. Of course the discomfort will be more now but it should not be actually painful.

Hi. I have 5 kids, and I can remember the pains of one of them sticking a foot in my ribs or groin, or hitting a nerve and sending shockwaves through me. Are you small framed? That could account for some of the added pains. If your worried, I'd simply ask my Dr. to check it out. I only had my water break on it's own once out of 5 pregnancies, and it started as a slow leak, then a gush a little while later. But, from the beginning it was unmistakeable! Good luck, not too much longer to go!!! :-)

Call your ob's nurse and ask questions. You are pregnant. There are no stupid questions! If the nurse cannot/does not reassure you over the phone, schedule a visit to put your mind at ease.

About that time in my pregnancy, my daughter tore a ligament in my ribs. I didn't know exactly when it happened but my side started hurting like crazy and hurt until I went into labor. Maybe something similar happened to you but in a different place. But by all means, call your doctor!!

You need to call your doctor immediately.

There is no reason I can think of that is normal for this to occur. There may surely be discomfort in later stages of pregnancy, but none of it should cause you to double over.

You could be putting you and your baby at risk if you do not get medical diagnosis of what is really going on. Since you are as far along as you are you could feasibly safely have your baby right away.

Please call your doctor.

Here is some info off the web RE: pain during pregnancy.

# At any time - pain or discomfort when urinating, a fever, pelvic discomfort, a frequent urge to urinate, chills, pain in your lower back or side, nausea, vomiting or blood in your urine. This could be a sign of a urinary tract or kidney infection, which being pregnant makes you more susceptible to.

# During later pregnancy - pain in the upper abdomen, along with symptoms such as a very bad headache, nausea, vomiting, flashing lights or seeing spots in front of your eyes. This could be a sign of pre-eclampsia.

# During later pregnancy - severe pain in your lower abdomen, with or without bleeding. This could indicate a separating placenta.

Please do not doubt the seriousness of this.

The worst thing that can happen from calling the doctor and being seen is for him to say, "Everything is okay". That wouldn't be so bad, but waiting and not doing something when something could be done if there is a problem, that could be devastating.

I am not sure if it is normal because my first was born at 36 weeks too and right now I am only 5 months along, but a friend gave me a good hint with my first pregnancy to stop the pains. If you put your hand in a different place on your stomach, the baby will look for it and will leave the place that she is kicking and hurting. It worked for me because my first loved to kick me in the ribs. Other than that, you should call the doctor about the discharge.

Well, I definitely don't want to discourage you from checking with ytour doctor- you should if you are worried, but I've had that kind of pain with all three of my (perfectly normal) pregnancies, starting at about 35-36 weeks. It was just them pressing down really hard. I haven't had much pain with this pregnancy (I'm almost 36 weeks), but definitely discomfort. There have been a few painful moments in the last week though, so it's coming! I was very uncomfortable the last few weeks of each of my pregnancies mainly because of the intense pain of them pressing down. Let us know what your doc says!

I would call your doctor to be sure. I had the same thing with my first (daughter). She was/is a fiesty little thing that would stretch out and cause pain pushing her head down. There were times I thought she would pop right out. Actually I only had to push 2 times and she did pop out. She was definately a strong willed baby. My second (son) was much calmer and very different. It could be totally normal, so don't panic but double check with your OB.

I had all the bad pregancy symptoms. I don't know about the discharge, but my body ached all the time. I lost the feeling in my finger tips. Ask your OB nurse over the phone about the clear discharge. Better safe than sorry.

I also recommend you contact your Dr, but I had similar issues with my son. He was pushing on a nerve near the right side of my pelvis that would make me cry and gasp each time he hit it. I also went into premature labor and that made it worse as each contraction would squish him and in turn he squished the nerve. They gave me some shots to stop the labor and he eventually quit pressing on the nreve all the time. Hang in there! It's worth it :)
