HI Ladies!
I hope someone can explain to me why I look like Im showing at 6/7 weeks pregnant. Im small/average I weigh 120ish and am 5'3. This is my third baby. I just do not understand why my belly is just sticking out. Its not so bad in the am when I wake up, but throughout the day it just seems like it pops out more and more and by bedtime Im looking 5 months pregnant!! Im not eating a ton due to sickness, Im lucky if I am able to keep my breakfast and lunch if you know what I mean. I think im drinking plenty of fluids. I havent gained weight. What is going on with my belly!!??? My last pregnancy, I had a 9 lb baby and I probably should have had an extra pair of legs just to carrying around my belly. Im scared!!

What can I do next?

Me too! I am now 17 wks pregnant with number #3. I looked like I was showing immediately. I knew it couldn't be my uterus because it would still be really small. So my theory was that once those pregnancy hormones hit, my stomach muscles just went Floomp! in anticipation of being stretched out again!

well, if it's your third one your muscles just aint what they used to be!! my sister has four kids and she showed earlier and looked larger with each one. she is 5'2" and skinny. also, being a small person makes a baby belly look even bigger. I wouldnt worry.

Tiny women often show earlier, plus this is your third child--so, sadly, your abs probably aren't as tight anymore to hold in your expanding uterus. I wouldn't worry, though. Your body won't make a baby bigger than your frame can manage, so you'll be ok even if you have another 9-pounder.

Wow, this is scary...almost everything you wrote is me! I'm 7 weeks, 125 5'4", 3rd baby (1st baby was 9lbs 1oz, 2nd baby was 8lbs 7oz)...and I definitely look like I'm starting to show too. I showed earlier with my 2nd son too...I think our stomach muscles are just all stretched out.

I don't think it helps that my first son is 2 years 2 months and my second is 10 months...so I didn't really give my body too much time to recoup. Are your kiddos close in age too?

I think it's because our metabolisms slow down when we are pregnant to give the nutrients time to make it to baby. Therefore, our food stays in our tummies longer. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and mine still does this. It's smaller in the morning and at night it's huge. Also, with subsequent pregnancies, ab muscles get more and more stretched and just kind of pop a lot faster! Congrats!!!

I had four kids and you show a lot sooner with each new pregnancy. Your body remembers and is getting a headstart on what's to come. In a few months it'll all look normal for your weeks/months along. My suggestion is to just take care of yourself and don't worry. It is what it is and worry (stress) will just cause more issues. If you're worried about appearance, anybody who matters loves you no matter what and at this point and time a healthy baby is your goal. I don't love all the stretch marks and the not-like-it-was-when-I-was-18 belly, but I'm a mom and that is much more important to me than outward appearance. Good luck and enjoy your growing family.

Oh, hun...tell me about it...shortly before baby #3 I was in fighting shape lol...I had exercised and was finally at my best weight since before getting pregnant with baby 1 or 2. Our bodies muscles seem to remember us being pregnant though. I looked like i was having twins in October when my due date wasn't until June! I was so upset! It will be ok, eat healthy and exercise. Congrats on your baby to be = )

um yes that is me too. I am 5'3 110 pounds and pregnant with my third baby and at 5 weeks (im now 10 weeks) I had a pooch. I took forever to show with my first two but man not with this one. Like you I hadn't gained any weight yet but there is a pooch. I did read that even thought the baby is still tiny your uterus is preparing for the baby and has already started to grow so that could be part of it. The good thing is that it's now 5 weeks later for me and my tummy is still the same size so i don't think it means you will get any bigger because you are showing early. I think you just stay in the poochy stage for a little longer.

Are you taking your prenatals? It might be bloating from that.
However- Your body is pregnant for the 3rd time. The muscles that used to work....don't anymore. Your skin is stretchier. Personally? I would just wear looser pants or dresses. Get comfortable.

Could you be retaining more fluid this time?

Could be gas due to the sickness. And since this is your third you will show sooner especially if you've had a large baby. Make sure you are retaining any water either during the day. You may need to check your blood pressure. Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck and God Bless.

It's ok. I was the same way. By the time I was two months along, I looked like I was five. This was with my third pregnancy also and I was about the same size and weight. I was in materinity clothes and everything. As long as you take care of yourself, you'll be fine. Enjoy the pregnancy and the new blessing you'll get from it.

Showing at this stage has nothing to do with baby or potential size of baby, it has to do with elasticity of your stomach muscles (after 2 previous pregnancies to stretch them out, pressure, and bloating will pop right out).

Im sure your OB can tell you what's going on. Might just be where the baby located itself on your uterus and as the day goes on with gravity and all, things just happen ;)
