Which Pull-ups Work Best for You?

We've been using the Huggies Learning Designs on my 2 1/2 year old daughter purely because of the opening on the sides. She's been scratching her tummy a lot lately and I think these pull-ups are itching her. I also don't think the learning designs work. What pull-ups do you use? What other brands have the sides that open? Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

What can I do next?

I recommend forgoing the pullups all together. Are you using them in hopes that it will help with potty training? I do not think they do. Either use diapers or put her in big girl panties and suffer through a few days (or few weeks in some cases) of wet clothes. Get some Gerber plastic underwear covers so it helps to seal the pee in and not drip everywhere!

Just my 2 cents...

pull ups are a fancy expensive diaper. Either use a regular diaper, or if you are potty training use underwear. Pull ups are a waste of money.

I agree with Nikki. I found with both of my girls that pull-ups didn't work because they still perceived them as diapers. If she's old enough to be in pull-ups, just switch to panties and potty train her. If you really focus on it, she'll be trained in a few days (actually, forget the panties - this time of year, just let her run around in her little bare bottom and take her to the potty every 20 minutes until she figures it out. It works, I promise! =) Good luck!

I think all the pull-ups open on the sides. I prefer the huggies brand because they are a bit stretchier than the rest. The pampers brand are very stiff, and for an active little girl, that doesn't work, and looks very uncomfortable! Also- I never put my daughter in pull-ups during the day much. If they are old enough to wear pull-ups, they are old enough to wear panties. If they are too little for panties, they should still be in diapers. I only use pull-ups at night because my three-year-old still doesn't wake up when she has to go pee-pee. Using pull-ups like a diaper can cause more rashes and infections because the moisture is kept closer to the skin.

Just something to think about!

Yep! I second DITCH THE PULL UPS! They only confuse kids. I did daycare for 5 years and they NEVER helped ANY of the kids I potty trained. OR our own 2....... They just feel like a diaper for kids. Once we ditched them, our son was potty trained in a day!

The training pants that work best are multilayer cloth training pants, some come with a waterproof outer layer and some you need to buy plastic pants for. Pullups don't teach kids to use the bathroom, when they wet them, they don't really feel wet. Cloth teaches what happens when you pee - you get really wet. Pullups are not a needed part of toilet training, they're just a marketing ploy to keep you buying diaper products for longer.

Pull ups don't work, period. Don't waste your money on them. If you want to potty train your child, it's best to use regular underwear. Pull ups are just like diapers and the message they give to a child is that it's ok to still go in your diaper, the only difference is that they are harder to put on and take off.
We tried them for a while, and decided that they are totally ridiculous and really just a marketing scam.
Put your daughter in fun little underwear and you will see results much faster. Of course she will have accidents, but that's part of learning. At this age she is totally capabale of letting you know when she needs to go and hodling it in long enough until you get her to the bathroom. She may even be able to take off the clothes and underwear and go all by herself (my 2 yr old does that).

We used the Sams Club brand, never had a problem, and at the time they were the cheapest I could find! :) They open/re-stick on the sides.

I think that only the Huggies pull ups open on the sides, I know that the Pampers easy ups do not, it is easy to pull them apart though if to you have to change it.. I do agree with Nikki and only use Huggies overnight pull ups on my daughter when she is sleeping, during the day she is in panties.

You could try the Target generic brand Up and Up, as it also has side openings and is much cheaper.

We use the Dollar General brand. I've tried other kinds and found that these are the best in comfort and anti-leakage. They have designs on the front that change colors..they are also inexpensive.

I used White Cloud training pants. They were great. They do NOT have the velcrow sides but can be ripped easily when changing messes. I hated the velcrow and they itched my daughter. They are also much cheaper!

Pull-ups are designed to keep parents spending money when potty training, instead of using underwear. That's all they are good for. Get training pants and let your daughter feel wet. Use diapers at night.

We went straight to training pants. Buy a few packs of Gerbers. Seriously, as long as they can go easily in their pants, they will.
