Which (Model) Car Do You drive....and....???

we have had 4 buicks in a row - I have a 2000 park avenue, it is pretty, well made, luxurious, 25 mpg, big and safe, our last one was a le sabre - also nice, traded it in at 150000 miles

Honda civic, old ford tarus, ford explorer, none of them will just die so we can get a new one! So I guess they're pretty good. About Riley's comment about the police interceptor(Crown Victoria) yes, they are fantastic cars-especially if you get them from a police auction/resale. I had a friend that had gotten one that way-V8 engine, great suspension, safe, I would love to have one one day!

I just got a 2007 Honda Pilot about 6 mo ago. BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I had a Ford Explorer and had a ton of problems.

Honda Pilot it is the best SUV for someone with 2 kids. It has a third row that folds flat and easily pops up if you want to have little friends join for ride.

My husband and I are both driving Ford Focuses. I really like it overall. I think the safety ratings for Ford are very good in general. If you go to www.cars.com you can also do customizable searches for family-friendly vehicles.

I think the gas mileage is pretty good. It is a comfortable size for me (my husband is 6'2" and would be more comfortable in a bigger car, but the Taurus has fewer MPG). In spite of what my husband says, I know I can fit three carseats in my back, so if we replace a vehicle we will only replace his--I will keep using my Focus while he drives an SUV or minivan. It is a smooth ride for long trips and we bought both vehicles used but still under warranty.

I am a redneck so I drive a chevy pickup z71 4wd and wouldnt trade it for the world ps its an exended cab its a 95 and paid for no car payments :)

Our family of 5 has 7 vehicles. 3 Lexuses - 2 SUVs and a sedan (we had another Lexus sedan prior to the purchase of one of the SUVs); 3 Ford pickups and a Jeep Wrangler.

For myself and my spouse, we will always have a Lexus as long as we can afford them. They are great cars with very little maintenance required. One of the SUVs has over 200K miles on it and it still runs like a champ!

The Ford pickups are very reliable; but, not so functional for families. I did drive a Ford Club Wagon for 16 years while my children were small and simply LOVED it! It had over 250K miles on it! I'd have kept it a few more years; but, we'd really outgrown it as my children were no longer small and I kinda fell in love with my new car!

And, the Jeep? Well, a Jeep is generally very low maintenance and easy to service. It's my 20 year old son's car; so, what can I say? I think it's a kid car and not for families; but, that's just me.

If you do look at used cars, try to find a model that is "certified used". That saved us a ton when the first Lexus SUV needed a new engine and the dealer had to replace it at no charge!

Having just shopped for 2 new cars, I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what's out there - in the spring we purchased a Honda Civic for our college-aged daughter, after looking at MANY others. We liked the size and felt it had good safety features. She absolutely loves it. My husband also unexpectedly had to buy another car this summer after his Ford Escape(which he loved!) was totaled in an accident. We looked at the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Honda CRV, but ended up getting a used Subaru Forester. So far this has turned out to be a really great car - good gas mileage for commuting and great safety features. I would highly recommend it!

Mitsubishi Galant -- working on replacing it for ONE reason ... maintenence is tooooo darn much, everytime something goes wrong annually it costs thousands b/c they are maker specific parts
I would try a Ford Escape my MIL has one and I WANT IT!!!

GMC black Canyon pick-up! Just bought it this past summer and I love it. For the last 20 years I drove a conversion van because I ran a small family daycare so you could say this was the first car I could pick out just for me. I did get the crew cab so it can seat 6 if needed. It is a smaller pick-up so it is nice to drive around on the city streets. I also got the bigger engine because we go camping and use it to pull the camper. Great pick up speed! First time I put my foot on the gas I went flying out of the parking lot!! I didn't know a car could move that fast.

We have a Jeep Wrangler and a Mazda Protege. Love both. But my next car is going to be a hybrid SUV. Don't know which one yet... but I need the towing and off road and snow capacity.

Police Interceptors are great cars to have as well. They're solid, and they take a beating, and they have a *lot* of power.

I had a Subaru Forester for several years. Bought it brand new. I LOVED that car. The gas mileage wasn't great.. just so-so.. around 24/mpg, but it was a snappy little car. Plenty of room in the back for whatever I needed to do, fantastic turning radius-- I could put that car ANYwhere I wanted, turned it around on the side of mountain on a rutted dirt road once, lol. Sadly, our family of 4 just grew up too much to fit comfortably in it any longer. The kids were growing and we just wanted more "space" between "us" and "them", lol. I can't say enough about the quality of the vehicle, however. It was about as steady and stable as they come. I always felt safe driving it, even in terrible thunderstorms... AWD is nice. :)
And it was a lot of fun to drive, too.

When I finally agreed to hand over the keys to my Forester, at about 165,000 miles, I gave it to the Nissan dealer towards my new Xterra. I love this car/SUV as well. It sits a little higher (so is slightly less stable, but it doesn't feel unstable at all), so visibility is good. I am picky about my visibility, too... and refused to even test drive a lot of vehicles that I didn't feel comfortable with the lack of visibility out the back/side windows. If I sat in it, and couldn't see all around me, to where I would feel comfy changing lanes in traffic often... I just stepped back out. Interview over. The mileage is not great. Not really even good, but not bad for an SUV (I averaged 22mpg the first couple years, no I get around 20, but I speed. A Lot. And that runs the fuel less efficiently). There is plenty of room in the X-terra also. We have a German Shepherd and she rides in the back area often. The kids take karate and I keep karate gear/gym bags back there, etc. I really like the height of the cargo area. It is great for loading groceries or whatever. I even loaded a bunch of sod for the yard in it. I can really cram a lot of stuff in the cargo area, without it going above the seat-back height (no worries about gear flying forward in a sudden stop, and no blocking the visibility).
It has 193,000 miles on it. Just spent $2,000 replacing both catalytic converters. We debated on getting something else, rather than "invest" in this 5 yr old one.... but I really couldn't think of anything else I wanted right now... at least nothing that costs less than $30,000, and I wasn't ready to spend that. I actually told my husband, that if I were to HAVE to buy something to replace it, I'd probably be back at the Nissan lot looking at the newer models of the same thing. So we just repaired mine. My mechanic says that I probably have another 100k miles left in it.
(I drive about 700 miles a week, almost all interstate commuting with minimal traffic).

My hubby has a Mazda 6 sport. It is fun. I will admit that. It really goes zoom zoom. But, I HATE when I have to take his car for some reason. I really prefer my Xterra.

By the way... all our vehicles are/have been manual transmissions. I just love them. My Xterra is a 6 spd~ FUN. :) I get bored when I drive an automatic.

Currently I am driving a 2006 Chevy HHR - it's been a great car, and I like the styling (similar to a PT Cruiser but better made). Thinking the next car will be a Ford Fusion Hybrid. I live in the Detroit area, my dad worked for Ford and now my brother works for Ford (when we got the HHR my hubby was working for a Chevy dealership). So it's only American cars for me!

I disagree with the person below; sorry they had a bad experience. I have a wonderful 2006 VW Passat, fully paid for bought it certified from the dealership. No problems at all. smooth ride,comfy, stylish, leather, 6spd manual, etc. great car. Yes, I'm a mother of two, a teenager and a toddler (our blessing) would definitely recommend this vehicle, only buy certified and have a european mechanic check before buying (that goes for any vehicle).

My husband drives a 2002 GMC Yukon, love it, great for family trips, extra row of seats, spacious, runs excellent, drives like a car,no serious repairs.

Our teenager drives a 1996 toyota camry, 2dr, 5spd, wonderful car. all power. husband and me bought for $2k and invested $2k in upgrades and maintenance runs like a dream, looks new, reliable, and all her friends love it. My husband even likes to drive her car and lets her drive the Yukon.

We love our VW Passat, GMC Yukon, and Toyota Camry.

It doesn't matter what vehicle you own, just as long as it suits your needs, and you take the time to get the vehicle checked out by a certified mechanic and make sure you can afford maintenance & repairs.

Chevy Traverse it is AMAZING! Love the remote start (especially in the TX heat), the automatic lift gate and the fact that I can comfortably sit 8 people! It also looks really nice, gets good gas milage and is affordable.

I have a 2010 Dodge Charger- Love it! It is very sporty looking yet lots of room inside. So you get the sporty car with family room :)

Unless you are paying cash for a used one, I would recommend a new car or something that still has a warranty. That has been my piece of mind with this car. Dodge has a great warranty!

I just bought a Mazda5. It has six seats. Kind of like a cross between a minivan & stationwagon. It gets great gas mileage & is small enough to fit into little parking places. I love it. Only downfall, its not for tall people...

Just FYI, most people don't know that you can have leather seats added to your vehicle (if it doesn't have it) for about $###-###-#### more (depending on size of car). You can even have it added to used cars. Most dealerships have companies that they use that come pick up the seats & bring them back the next day.
