Which Formula to Choose???

Since you are using the Good Start formula I would stick with
that. I have a 5 1/2 month old who I am breastfeeding and
am also using the same formula that you are when I am at work. It seems to me that she doesnt really care for the formula either because sometimes she will gulp down bottle after bottle and some days she just doesn't want any. I have to keep reminding myself that children's appetites vary every day. As long as your child is eating when she is hungry and is going to the bathroom like she should be every thing sounds to me like it is okay!!:)

Oh Mama do I feel for you. My husband and I went throught the same. we wound up finding he took to the most expensive Alimentum. I thing the brand is similac. I tried soy based seemed okay but soom woohoo constipation we used gel suppositories it got so bad. Also I still add apple juice and/or dark caro syrup as told by doctor for the constipation.
As far as the number of bottles, she'll eat when she is hungry, as long as she is dehydrated or losing weight. Sometimes I think the added sweetness to the formula or milk makes it good to them. (less than an ounce)

If your child is gassy & colicky please try neutrimigen. i had that for both my girls & it worked like a charm. its expensive but its soooo worth it. u will see a totally different child. if u have wic or help paying for formula buy a can or two on your own. then if it works let your dr know & they will have to write up a note for u to take to wic. also u may want to try the liquid form. my daughter couldnt take the powdered type it had to be the one where u add water or its already pre mixed for ya. let me know how u do. good luck.

I also tried a couple of different formulas for my daughter. She didn't like the Good Start and would spit up very badly with it. Her spit up would look like rotten milk. So I use Similac Isomil Advance. It is a soy formula, but her spit up is much better and she isn't gassy with it. I would try that kind. I hope this helps.

What about similac soy? That worked my son, he didn't like any other brand.

I have been very happy with Similac Isomil Advance Soy Formula. My daughter spits up less and is less gassy with it.
I went with Similac because that is what the hospital used when I had my daughter.

I have to ask why can't you nurse I know people who can help with just about any situation. Your baby won't starve just keep trying and listen to your baby.

After the 6 we went through with my sons GERD and colic, I would go straight to Good Start every time from here on out. The amount is probably due to the nipples you are using and not the formula. Switching does take an adjustment for the baby, we had to quit too and although they were leaky and didn't seal goo the only ones my son liked were avent.

it sound like she has been on alot of different formula in the last two month.my daughter had a simmler problem with formula so i had to put her on lactos free milk at five month of age after a few week of being on i she was great.a happy eating well again i did do it on my own with out my doctor app and she has been helthy sence then normal weight and hight it worked for my high matenecess daughter maybe it will work for your good luck and remember you are a perfect mother

I would give Lactose Free a try. If you got painful gas every time you ate, you'd avoid it too. Call WIC and see if they have a sample for you, or a lot of times Dr's offices get samples, and give it a day or two. You might be surprised!

We went through the same with my oldest. She would constipate so bad she would tear herself, and the fussiness and gas was horrendous. We wound up finding she needed the Alimentum, which of course was the equivalent of liquid gold price wise, but the relief she got was well worth it.

Hello, now I am not a doctor, but maybe your kid has allergies??? My middle has sever allergies and my doctor tried to put him on Similac's Alimentum Advance(he did't like it, he was allready breast feeding for 6+ monthes and refused to take it). I breast fed all three of my kids. And with my last I had to go back to work and after switching her to a bottle we noticed her getting fussy and gassy all the time, those gas drops didn't help much. So I figured it would be best to switch her to the formula her brother had, assuming she had allergies or was real sensitive. She didn't like mixing the breast milk with the formula and was still having problems so we tried a bottle just straight formula, and we never looked back. She love it and has not had problems since. I will warn you that this stuff stinks like crazy!!!! I have never had to feed formula to my other kids but my friends have and this smells worse. Oh and if you Doctor is not helping maybe its time to search for a new one??? This formula is kind of expensive if you can get WIC that will help, but you will need your dr to write a prescription. It is also hypoallergenic and has DHA and ARA. Well I hope this helps you out some at least!!!!!

Hi.. I went through the same thing.. I tried literally everything out there... I tried the neutramagin and that didn't even work and smelled horrible.. I thought Similac Alimentum was just the equivalant of another brand so didn't bother trying it until someone gave me a can of it and insisted that I try it! So, I did and it was a wonder formula! Worked great and the colic nightmare and spitting up was over! I suggest Alimentum, but its expensive... Worth every penny once you see your child happy though. Good LUck (:

Hi there--- Not sure if this will help, but this is what happened for me. My daughter was eating Enfamil (just regular formula) and was spitting it up- all of it up- every bottle. She was not gaining much weight at all- so we tried Enfamil AR Lipil and she does great with it- it really help with the spitting up. It did make her poop pretty hard so the doctor suggested putting and ounce of prune juice in with her regular 6 ounce bottles- that really helped and she loved it too. Hopefully you can figure something out for your little one:) hope thios helped

Hi M., I work in a pediatrics office and we see this all the time, one thing is soy tears up a baby's belly, we use Simulac Alimentum, its real expensive but your doctors office can get samples if you ask. Good luck.
