I have been on different kinds of pills, the shot, or the patch at various times in my life. I found my sex drive was inhibited with all of them. I tend to get very "in the mood" when I ovulate (we are biologically wired to be that way). So anything that inhibits my ovulation has a tendency to also inhibit my libido. I have been happy with my non-hormonal IUD so far. If you want to stay on the pill you may need to try a pill that has a higher androgenic profile. Higher androgenic activity makes a pill more likely to have testosterone-related side effects. Testosterone related side effects may include increased acne, hair growth, but also increased sex drive. Everyone responds to pills differently, you may get bad acne and still have no sex drive, or you may have no acne and be all over you man with desire. You won't know till you try. If you are prone to acne anyway your chances of this being a side effect are higher, so consider that. Pills with higher androgenic activity include Alesse, Estrostep FE, Levlin, Loestrin 1.5/30 or 1/20 Fe, and Ovral. I would say to make an appt with your OB to discuss your concerns, if he/she blows off your low libido you may need to find a new health care provider. It is a common, multifaceted complaint, and many providers don't know how to address it or don't want to take the time or effort to help you figure it out. But it can have a profound effect on many aspects of your life and deserves attention. I wish you the best.

I have been on several kinds of BC pills for over 20 years and they've never dulled my sex drive. Nursing and caring for a baby, on the other hand, did.

I am currently on Levora & it hasn't affected my sex drive at all.

I've been on bc pills since I was 18, and four different kinds, and they have all done that to me. They are notorious for absolutely killing the sex drive. If you find one that doesn't, please let me know!

Personally, I've never had a sex drive while on the pill. Any pill. It doens't matter.

I just had Essure done a couple of weeks ago, and I'm so excited for my confirmation test so that I can kiss the pill goodbye!

If you have the self control to abstain or use condoms for about 5 days a month, you can use a very effective form of birth control called the fertility awareness method. Toni Weschler wrote a great book called "Taking Charge of your Fertility". Very effective and best of all no side effects.

It may not be your pills that are causing it. I know after I had my oldest I didn't have much or a sex drive at all. Then after my second it was next to nothing. So it may not be the pill just your body.
