Where Would You Go?? - Cincinnati,OH

I'd go to Atlantis in the Bahamas.. but I'm like a little kid at heart and they have dolphins HAHA! But that's seriously where'd I'd go, even if it was just me and my husband. Or even Disney World, and buy one of those front-of-the-line passes.. Maybe I'm not the best person to ask, this coming from a person who finally talked her husband into taking her to see The Lorax (without the kids) this weekend.

Personally, I don't like to travel outside of the US, so I would want to go to Hawaii, I have never been. Have fun whatever you decide to do! =)

$1000 plus $500 for entertainment?

I'd take my spouse on a 7-day cruise on the caribbean or a cruise up across the east coast of America and Eastern Canada and see the fall foliage.

IF $1K has to cover tickets, hotel and car - I would find a "destination" place - where you can group it all together.

If you are bringing your son - since I don't know his age - I would say Niagara Falls - as he might be amazed with the water. And the tickets won't be as much as they would to fly to Hawaii. (for 2 to fly from Columbus to Honolulu in April is as $1749 and as low as $1000. And if you go further in the "season" you will spend more.

If you are going alone - Vegas baby. Vegas.

Go to travelocity and check out their "destination" packages - you might be able to save money there!!!

I would go to Hawaii. You seem to like livelier cities with a nightlife. Hawaii has that too if you go to the right part of the island, I think around Waikiki. It also has plenty of nature and family stuff too.

I went to Vegas and New York with my 2 1/2 year old and I would say no to bringing your kid to those places. It is much easier to to the touristy stuff without him. I also went to Chicago and loved it, but I didn't have kids at the time so I don't know how kid friendly it is. I don't know how old your son is, but my sister took her kids on a Carnival cruise and loved it. When she called Carnival, instead of booking online, they only charged her $80 a kid when her kids were 5 and 4. They have a camp that your kids can go to, so you can have some alone time, but you also have the option of doing something with the kids. It was like that in Bermuda at the Fairmont Southhampton. We were there this past summer, and if your kids are old enough they have a day camp for your kids and some night activities too, so you can have some grownup time. I would try to find a place like that if you go anywhere so that you can have a little bit of both, a grown up vacation and a kid-friendly vacation.

You could wait until next winter and take a trip to sunny San Diego! If you go there, you should be sure to take your boy. So many fun family things to do there!

If the boy is old enough I would take him to the Ocean- Sea World, San Diego a fabulous trip for all of you.

I might take my teenage daughter to New York.

Or, I might take my husband for a romantic trip to the French Quarter in New Orleans.

I might take the whole family to Washington D.C.

I'd most likely do the Cruise with my husabnd since my kids are old enough to leave with family for a few days.

That is AWESOME!!!! Congrats!!!! Go to Groupon.com and check out their travel deals. There are some really good ones to really nice places. I personally would go for something like Belize or Costa Rica (I've been to both), but understand that kind of travel is not for everyone. If you prefer to stay in the states and want to take your "boy" Disney World is always a good option. We've stayed at the Yacht Club Resort twice...love it! Wish I had this difficult decision to make :o) Have fun!!

How fun - well there are lots of options pending on what you like to do. Do you want to relax the entire time or go sightseeing, or a little of both. We just watched last night on WOSU a show about trains - not sure how old you boy is, but one of the rides took you to Mt Rushmore, and into Yosemite - I think that would be just amazing. Let someone else drive and get to see things that you wouldn't normally if you were driving. First goal is to decide what "kind" of trip you want, then narrow down options. Have FUN - BTW - is your employer hiring =)

I live in California. Family's been here for five generations so I suppose I take the weather and stuff here for granted because I'd rather be in Kawaii. The grass is always greener, right?

I was lucky to live in CAli for a year (born and raised and back in Ohio) and went back to do the tourist thing. There is simply so much to do in the SAn Diego area and it's really a great time, with or without kids.

I'd go to a Beaches Family Resort and take my son for some SERIOUS 'mars time'. My 9yo is my favorite travel buddy.

Or up to Sun Peaks (family ski resort right next to Whistler; snowboarding, dogsledding, outdoor pool, iceskating, snowshoeing, marshmallows, etc.)

((I classify any resort as a Mars Trip... because going to a resort you could be anywhere in the universe. Resorts are sculpted places that have little to anything to do with local culture/ customs/ education/ etc. You could be on Mars.))

The trips I'm actually planning, however are places where I have family/friends so we wouldn't be paying for a hotel, just airfare and spending money... (except the NZ trip, which is a summer field school):

- Argentina (2500 - 6 weeks) (cancelled due to illness)
- UK, EU, Balkans (4k - 8 weeks)
- East Coast Colonization (3 weeks)
- South Island NZ (3 months)

Which I just bring up as an option B. Put that money towards a bigger/longer trip.
