Where to Stay in Southern Black Hills, South Dakota?

We are planning on going to the Black Hills in June and I am looking for a reasonable cabin to rent for a family of 4. My kids will be 8 and 10 at the time of the trip. Anybody have a great place to stay? I would prefer to stay in the southern part near Custer, Keystone, Hill City, but am willing to consider elsewhere. Thanks!

What can I do next?

We used AAA when we planned our trip from California to Georgia. Had some great recommendations too. However, it doesn't sound like this is a road trip for you.

I would use Trip Advisor and follow up with Yelp. You can also check with a travel agent.

The Black Hills in June is popular...and can be hot....

WHAT do you want to do and see while you are in the Black Hills??
Have you tried Trip Advisor?

When I go to the Black Hills? I am in a motor home. We have stayed at the Elkridge RV Campground in Spearfish. We love going back Route 14 to Bridal Veil Falls and taking the tour around Custer National Park.

We also go to the Devil's Tower in Hulett, Wyoming (where Close Encounters was filmed all those years ago) and walk around that. Sundance Wyoming has a great RV park with 4 cabins and a great pool. Excellent location too!

Mount Rushmore has a KOA (In Hill City) and there is another campground that has cabins.

Rapid City, SD is a big city and has a lot of choices too.

There is so much to do and see. Good luck!

We use VRBO all the time. If we're staying more than a couple nights we prefer a whole house to a hotel room.

Check out the listings for the Black Hills area. Read the reviews not only to be sure if the house is right for you but also to find out if others liked the location and what activities they enjoyed.

http://www.countrycharmcabins-corrals.com/ we stayed here when our girls were 4 and 7 and they LOVED it. They didn't have any open cabins when we went so we stayed in the main house. But they included a horse ride through the country, not on real trails, it was so great and our kids loved it. They gave each girl a horseshoe to keep too. They are enough in the country that you see all the stars but close enough to Mt. Rushmore that it wasn't forever to get back at the end of the day.
