HI, My Husband and I are going away to celebrate our Anniversary for 3 nights. We're looking for inexpensive and somewhere no more than 2-3hrs away. We like hiking, winetasting, massages,(we do want to get a massage) and relaxing. I was thinking SFO but haven't been outside the Wharf. Thinking of Amador County wine tasting but never stayed anywhere out there overnight, we've been to Napa many times so unless it's unique we're not going there this time. Never been to Santa Cruz, don't know how far the drive is exactly? Please let me know your ideas, I'm at a loss and he has taken the days off for the end of the month. Thank You

So What Happened?

HI All, so we decided to give Sutter Creek a try and stayed at the Hanford Inn. Great B&B! We had a great time and plan to go there again next year for a weekend getaway. Thanks so much for all you info :)

My husband and I LOVE to visit Half Moon Bay. There are many good restuarants nearby. Barb's fish trap, awesome fish n chips and chipino. Flying fish, has the best fish taco's ever tasted. There is also a bed and breakfast right on the ocean that is inexpensive and very nice. Good Luck

We love to go to Santa Cruz and Monterrey on our short vacations. Costanoa is a fun place to stay www.costanoa.com. We like to stay in the cheaper towns and then drive into the city.

We enjoy Monterey and Carmel. You'll find better deals in Monterey. It's about a 31/2 hour drive. We also love Bodega Bay. There aren't many hotel choices so prices are a little higher than Monterey. I know you can get massages at the Bodega Bay Lodge and Spa. The Inn at the Tides is great too. Bodaga Bay is pretty quiet and about a 2 hour and 45 minute drive.

Hi. Happy Anniversary! Santa Cruz is approximately 3-4 hours away depending on the traffic. I do know there are a lot of wine tasting and spas in Calistoga which is near Napa. In Amador County... if you are looking for a B&B, there are a few in Sutter. I think there might be one in Jackson besides the normal hotel. Go online and google these places and you will find all sorts of info.

I have liked our trips to Lake Tahoe about 1.5 from Sacramento but take into account that highway 50 is under a lot of repair during the summer so give yourself an extra half hour for the slower speeds, a lot of places to go hiking, boat rentals, bike rental, and visit the beach of Lake Tahoe. There are some specials run by the hotels you have to check though they very by weekend. South Lake Tahoe is on the California side where Lake Tahoe is on the Nevada side. The night life is wonderful, dancing, shows, There are many resorts, spa retreats in the area, that offer all kinds of relaxing treatments. Incline village has cheeper prices it is on the north end of the Lake and Bonanza the TV show was filmed there. Just another option.

I haven't been there lately but know people who love to stay in Murphys. It is a small town but is growing with lots of relaxing things to do.

Hi, I am in the process of planning a trip for our 5 year anniversary. We are heading to North Shore Tahoe. We are going to stay at Squaw and get massages right there. There are also many pretty beach areas to picnic at. Have Fun!

inexpensive?
I can tell you the holiday-inn (no frills though) in pacifica is literally right on the beach!

It's just south of SFO so you can goto the city for a romantic dinner and half moon bay isn't far south either :)

We just spent our 5 year anni there.
