Hey there .. I come again requesting where the locals like to shop. :-) I know I can get things from Home Depot and Lowes .. but I haven't seen many garden nurserys down here .. are there any .. that are good to shop at and have pretty flowers. Is it best to just stick with the selection at HD and Lowes? Just curious .. we're just trying to get used to what grows down here versus what we are used to on the East coast. :-) Oh, I have been eyeing that Home Depot Landscape store on 121 .. is that any good?!

What can I do next?

Shades of Green on Coit Rd. in Frisco is an excellent, high quality nursery. Many local landscapers who care about their product use them.

Hi, We found Countryside Nursery on Hwy 5 just south of Exchange in Allen. They are very knowledgeable and have wonderful plants & shrubs at reasonable prices. I really like dealing with an independent owner.

I'll echo Shades of Green. They were really helpful with picking out native, drought and heat-tolerant plants -- very knowledgable and helpful staff. Neat place.

Welcome to Texas ! I, too, come from the East Coast (NC), and I miss it so much. I have found a neat wholesale nursery East of McDermott in Lucas. They have some great prices for shrubs. Next door is an awesome greenhouse for flowers and such. It's called North Star Nursery. They are normally cheaper than Lowes and Home Depot unless the retail has a big markdown sale. You travel East on McDermott in Allen, all the way until you get towards the end of the road. You will pass Lovejoy High School. North Star will be shortly passed on your right. I purchased a flat of 18, 4" flowers for $6.50 two weeks, ago. They carry many of the basic shrubs, but you have to get there on the right day of the week to get the unusual. There's another neat greenhouse/nursery north of McKinney off 75 that has great hanging baskets and roses. It's called Crumps.

I live in Allen, and yes the HD landscape is a great place to shop, and if you get there real early on the days they got their stock, you can get some beautiful shrubs & flowers. Ask them what days; I think friday is one of the days.
Also, In Mckinney on 380 there is a flea market that has a few landscaping companies that come out and bring their stuff at reasonable prices. There is also a few lanscape places on 380 around the flea market, and those places have stones & large rocks as well.

Try Shades of Green on Coit, north of 121. They carry alot of native plants and give pretty good advice on what to plant.
