Where Do You Keep Your Liquor?

We keep ours in the freezer. My husbands BFF always gives me grief about this, says keeping it in the freezer makes his hands too cold (duh, it's in the freezer)... I don't like adding ice to certain kinds of drinks (like straight Southern Comfort), because it gets watered down and nasty! So... all the liquor stays in the freezer, nice and icy cold :)

My parents have a small wet bar, so they keep theirs in the cabinet below the bar.

Some of our other friends with little ones keep theirs on top of the refrigerator.

Another friend of ours keeps it on top of the bar in their 'basement'.

So where do you keep YOUR liquor?

What can I do next?

In my stomach. :p

It depends on what it is. Vodka and like libations, I keep in the freezer. Tequila, Amaretto, Irish Cream I keep in the liquor cabinet.

Beer is in kegs in the basement, except the two I want to drink, Troy is fermenting them in carboys so I can't nip any off. :(

Beer IN the fridge.
Wine IN the fridge or stored out of the sunlight and laying on its side.

Heavy liquor? Above the fridge.

We have smaller bottles that we keep in the freezer. but don't remember the last time they were touched. hhhmmm oh yeah - when Bob's dad was here last year...just like the hard liquor.

My husband is a home brewer (too bad I don't really like beer). So we have a kegerator with four taps on our back porch. ( One tap is dedicated to non alcoholic home made treats for me and the kids, mostly ginger ale or rootbeer). That fridge is stocked with the canned and bottled micro brews. The freezer is full of hops for beer making. We have a small bar in our dining area that holds most of the booze and wine. Hubby occasionally also makes wine for gift giving, so there are times where we have cased of wine in our bedroom closet, but that's usually temporary.

Mostly above the fridge.

When we have stuff that needs to be in the freezer, like Fireball or Jager it goes in the freezer till it's chilled but then we usually drink it, so there is rarely a time when you open my freezer and I just have a bottle in there, HA!

Southern Comfort straight is one of my favs...but I like mine room temp?

Our oldest are 13 & 14 so with the exception of a couple of open bottles of wine in the fridge and a few beers in the fridge that my FIL brought last week, we keep alcohol in a locked cabinet in the basement. Before we moved it, it was in the corner of a counter in our kitchen. I wouldn't do the top as the fridge because that's a pretty warm place.

In the bar in the living room. You could buy some plastic ice cubes or soapstone rocks. I drink my drinks neat most of the time. However, I won't drink watered down drinks either but neither will I fill up my freezer with liquor bottles. I need room for that two hundred pounds of elk I was volunteered to store. Also it can damage some liquors or so the purists say.

Beer in the fridge, hard stuff in the cabinet above the fridge. Wine is kept in the back of a dark coat closet unless its been opened in which case it goes up with the hard stuff.

We have vodka in the freezer - everything else is in the cabinet high up above our stove and microwave (I need a stepstool to get to it). Some things have a low enough alcohol content that they would end up freezing solid in the freezer.

In the cabinet above the refrigerator. If I want a cold drink sans ice, I anticipate and chill the glass. Though I have no problem with my drinks on the rocks so it's been a long time since I put a glass in the freezer for a half hour.

I don't typically keep alcohol in the house, but when I do I keep it in the back of the fridge. I'll occasionally receive a bottle of my favorite wine as a gift or I'll get a 6-pack of beer for a party where I know certain family members enjoy knocking one back. It's rare, though. My BFF is the same way. Most of my alcohol consumption is socializing at someone else's house for parties.

When I was a kid, my dad kept (and still keeps) the majority of his "social drinks" in the hall closet on the top shelf. He's the only one who can reach it and he still has to lift up onto his toes to reach. I couldn't even figure out where he kept the alcohol until I was 12. He keeps his beer in the fridge. But we grew up around beer and wine with parents who drank responsibly, so my brothers and I never tried to sneak the stuff. We had no interest.

My husband's family would keep wine under the kitchen sink where it kept chilled very well and their beer in the fridge. Now that my FIL has passed away, my MIL doesn't keep beer in her fridge any more and I don't think she keeps wine any more either. My SIL's have taken over entertaining, and their methods for keeping alcohol are similar to mine except for one SIL and her husband who have a tightly locked and beautifully furnished family room/bar/downstairs kitchen in their former basement.

When we all actively entertain, we of course use coolers or (in the Winter) the porch.

I was a bartender for ten years, and it is my experience/opinion that some liquors absolutely must be kept in a refrigerator or freezer. For example, Jagermeister and Rumpleminz. However, most liquors go down much smoother the colder they are, and if it is your preference and you have the room in your fridge, keep whatever you like chilled. (Except Scotch. You may get arrested for putting Scotch in the freezer.) :-)

Mixed drinks, in my opinion, need the ice, but not nearly so much as you would get at a bar. Martinis (of all varietend to be poured over ice and strained into a glass. That way you get the effects of a chilled liquor without taking up the room in your freezer and minimal dilution. But again, your house, your rules.

My liquor is in a crate in the back of my pantry. Due to weird medical issues, I may never be able to drink again, but I will always be willing to serve as a consultant. :-)

We have a wet bar with a fridge and cabinet. That's where we keep liquor and sodas. No one under 21 is allowed behind the bar for any reason, no matter what's going on. I am teaching my toddler to stay from behind the bar.

Some of it (rum) is in the wine rack (just because it fits, lol). The big 5th of Jack doesn't fit, though, so it just goes under the kitchen counter. We don't really drink liquor though. It is just some we've had around.... the rum from when I bake stuff that has rum in it. The Jack, was something we bought to gift to someone and then didn't end up going to the party, so it just sits around. Still has the seal on it. We don't hide beer/wine from the kids either.

I am a SAHM, so I am here. They really have no ability to get away with sneaking anything. And they don't seem to have any interest anyway. We are not uptight parents, and I drink wine with dinner sometimes, and always have it out when we have family visiting. Hubby drinks beer pretty regularly, with dinner or watching football, grilling, whatever.. not a big deal. If the kids were interested, they would ask to have some. They wouldn't sneak it, they would ask. Yeah, I know that sounds naive... but really---they would ask. They ask everything else....

We don't have any liquor in the house. We are non drinkers for the most part. On occasion if we have a party we'll get all crazy and get some wine coolers. =)

some in the freezer (part bottle gin, something else). most in a box in the back room in our basement. Sadly (or perhaps not), much of it is left over from our wedding almost 12 years ago. That is, what my stepkids didn't water. we threw that out.

Since we hardly drink we keep it in the back of a hardly even used cabinet. I think we have the same bottle of vodka from before my 12 yr old son was born. We get bottles of wine as hostess gifts and we leave them out for others to enjoy when we entertain. The only alchohol that I leave handy is burgundy at this time of year becuase I make beef burgundy (really just beef stew with more "sophisticated" kinds of veggies) and I'll add it to beef gravy.

But when we were younger and drankmore often the vodka was always in the freezer. But frankly alcohol just brought out the worst in both my husband and I - I dont' think I ever made a good decision during the years that I drank. (Our marriage is much stronger now!) WE will have a glass of wine every so often, or a mixed drink on rare occasion if we're out to dinner. But now we consider getting loaded to be something that really doesn't please God much and provides a pretty negative example for our kids.
