Where Do You Get Toddler Blankets?
I am looking for a blanket for my toddler - all I have found is baby blankets, and they are too small for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She is still in her crib so I don't need toddler bedding sets for a bed (yet! - thinking of transitioning her in January).
Any good ideas out there?
Thanks for any input!
Warmly,
E.

The only place I've been able to find bedding for a toddler bed/crib was on Ebay. I noticed a lot of responses mention stores by name but we haven't been able to find anything to fit a crib mattress in any stores we tried. We are in the process of finding a toddler pillow without any luck.

My daughter stayed in her crib until almost 3 1/2. I actually found a great, washable "down-like" throw at the Christmas Tree Shoppe. It was fantastic. The right size, warm. In fact she still uses it in the car even though she has transitioned out of the crib.

I just had this dilema myself, and what I did was go to the craft store and buy a piece of fleece (measured to the size I wanted). It cost me $6 for the material, was just the right size, needs NO sewing to finish the ends, and I got a really cute pattern! Another idea, or in addtion to the fleece, is to get a "throw" blanket like one you'd buy for a couch. I have one that is like a down blanket, just smaller for someone to snuggle with on the couch. Its still a little too big for the crib, but at their age, you don't have to worry about that anymore. Good luck!

Hi E.,
I have found a lot of my girls blankets at Target and Wal-Mart. They are not the small little square baby blankets, they are pretty big (decent sized) and nice and soft blankets. Good luck, they are out there. :)

our daughter is 17 mo. and I have also gotten a couple of nice fleece blankets from target in the baby section...like the other poster said, they're not the "infant" size, but they're not huge either. Just enough to cover her up- she throws them off at night most of the time anyway!
I love the buying the yard of fleece idea though- we don't have a local craft store, so it would be an effort to find one, but if I did that is what I would do!

have someone make one.. either knit or crochet! quilted or otherwise.. go to some craft fairs if you don't know anyone who does that. measure the size you want and request a special size.. I found that baby blankets and toddler ones didn't quite work, so I had my mom make a special size..

try wal-mart. they have toddler sheets (that fit a crib mattress) and the whole toddler ensamble with blankets etc that will fit the crib/toddler bed.

AN adult Throw size blanket is the perfect length for a toddler. My daughter has a fleece one I've had since college that has become her lovey! I also have down ones that are very warm for her. Look at TJ Maxx or Marshalls for nice ones cheap!!

E.,
I have also made the no-sew fleece (tag blankets) for all three of my kids. They are very easy and warm. I find a yard and a half is perfect for that age. My sister-in-law has also picked out a nice piece of heavy fleece and just hand stitched a blanket stitch around the edges for a finished look. If you look online for fleece blankets you will find a lot of easy ways to make them. The fabric stores often have good sales on fleece and you can sometimes get it cheaper then at Wal-Mart. Good luck!!
