Where Do I Put My 8 Month Old When I'm in the Shower

Hi All, I work full time and have a 8 month old daughter who I put in the fisher price swing in my bedroom when I'm getting ready for work, she is out growing it and I dont' know where to put her now. I have a 100lb golden retriever so I cant put her on the floor and I have a two story house and her exersaucer and playpen and both downstairs. Any advice would help!

Thanks so much

What can I do next?

Hi B.,
Why not use some baby gates to keep the Retriever and baby seperate? We have baby gates everywhere. It is a pain and doesn't look so great, but they are temporary and keep baby out of harms way.

I would suggest getting a small playpen for upstairs or just carry the exersaucer upstairs while you shower.

If you have a TV close to the bathroom (I am assuming you have a bathroom in your master bedroom), you could put her favorite show on and close the door so she can't get out and the dog can't get in.

The other option is to bring the baby and some toys into the bathroom with you and shut the door. She can play on the floor in the bathroom while you shower and you don't have to worry about the dog or her getting into anything. Most likely, she will hang on the shower edge and play with the water, because most babies love the water...

Or just bring her in the shower with you, sit her on the shower/tub floor and let her play in the water while you do what you need to do. The only thing is that you need to be careful that your soaps don't get in her eyes since they probably aren't tear-free like baby products are. Even if she doesn't like the shower water at first, she will get used to it.

Good luck! =)

Could you get a small playpen to put in your room while you are getting ready? My daughter has a big playpen downstairs and a small one in our room that we use when she is ready to get up before we are.
Another solution could be to put up a gate/close the door to keep the dog out and make sure the room is babyproof and then let her play on the floor while you get ready.
Or you could put her in her crib with a few toys and make sure you hace her monitor on so you can hear her. That way you don't have to worry about another playpen, she's not on the floor for the dog to get and you know she's in a safe place.

I know how tough it is when they outgrow a favorite place---we had a Jumperoo that my daughter LOVED. I was very sad when she got to big for it.

I personally use a "baby einstein"...I am a single mom and my little one is so active, now she is 16 months old and into everything...however, the big delima is what do I do with her when I need to shower. The baby einstein was about 65.00 at babys-r-us and I have also seen them at target! There are so many toys all around it and the seat spins so when they get borred they can move on to the next toy...it has music and counting...it works wonders..even now at 16 months old when she is walking and really getting curious! It is also easy to move around!
