Hi Ladies...has anyone had any sciatica issues to the point you felt you needed to see someone for it? I had this issue while pregnant with our son, it went away, and now that I've started working out again, it's reared it's ugly head again...with a vengence! I don't know if I should see a Medical doctor or Chiropractor??? I do feel like my spine is off balance since having kids/daycare with all the bending and lifting I do...but is it wise to see a doctor first? I'm in daily pain now....and I need some guidance. If anyone has had similar problems, please let me know the best route to take. Thanks in advance!!!!

What can I do next?

When I was pregnant w/ my first daughter, I had a really bad pinched sciatica. I had heard mixed reviews about seeing a chiropractor, but after consulting my midwife, decided to try one. I saw Dr. Vincent Bryan, off Sunset Point in Clearwater, only two times and my pain was gone. I did worry that once I had seen a chiropractor that I would need to see one for the rest of my life to be pain-free. That's one thing I heard from people who were anti-chiropractor. It has been 4 years and I haven't needed to see Dr. Bryan for anything. I have referred friends to him and they have been completely satisfied. I hope you find relief in whatever path you decide.

Best of luck,
J.

I have been seeing Dr Piro, she is a chiropractor and wholistic doctor. She has been treating my sciatic pain with manipulation and herbal suppliments and I have had more relief from this than I have felt in years. Her practice is just off Alt 19, north of Tampa Road.

You may want to consider a personal trainer. There are exercises and stretches you can do to really help that.

I say see a Chiropractor and fast. I've had the same problem on and off for years. I recently went to the chiro and can now get up without pain and it makes working out much easier. What I thought was sciatica was actually my hip bone out of sinc with the rest of me. After a couple of treatments I am feeling sooo much better! I see Dr Reinhart on 9th in St Pete ###-###-####, if you are interested. Good Luck!

My advice, from personal experience and well as work experience, that you need to see a pain management doctor. They are your best bet because you may only need some sort of steroid injection that can totally or at least temporarily relieve your symptoms. Depending on what area you live n, Dr. Dennis Lox on Drew Street in Clearwater is great. I also know about the Laser Spine Institute on Rocky Point in Tampa. They are great, but, only if you are willing to consider some sort of surgical intervention. They do minimally invasive day surgery for back and neck pain. You can check out their website www.laserspineinstitute.com . Let me know if I can be of any more help!

HI C.,

I had the same problem while PG with both of my boys. I've gone both routes, Dr. and chiropractor so I'd recommend you get an x-ray w/your Dr. and then go to a good chiropractor. I have one I adore and she is phenomenal her name is Dr. Terry Hohl and she is in Clw. you can google her, they have a website but I'm not really sure of the address her practice is called Balance Chiropractic. Dr.'s will most likely do x-rays then give you pain meds. It's ok for temporary but when you lift on a regular basis like we do, do you really want to live on pain killers? I highly recommend chiropractic care, it has helped me immensely as well as my hubby who has a disk issue.

I have a friend who has had great results with accupuncture (I think that's how it's spelled). She said her pain was about 80% better after the first time and is completely relieved now after just a few visits. Not sure who she sees though. She said it has helped with other pain and stress as well.

I am going through the same exact thing as we speak. I saw my doctor and he gave me some meds to control the pain and some muscle relaxers. I also got an mri done this week. I would suggest seeing your primary care doctor before going to see a chiropractor. I totally believe in chiropractic care, but it can be real pricing and time consuming.

I say Chiropractor. They don't jump to surgery's very quickly and are really good at fixing the problem. Mine is Dr. Stan Pierce in St. Petersburg. LOVE him and his staff!!!###-###-#### Good luck!

You decide, MD will put you on anti inflamatory, pain pills and probably a muscle relaxer, ask you to lie on the floor or hard surface for a week and slowly work back to normal. Chiropractor will adjust you and get you back on track with other treatment options much faster...I opted for Dr Banacki, Palm Harbor off Alt 19 by Crystal Beach. Even if you don't have insurance his adjustments are around $40. He will probably want to do X-rays to be sure what he is dealing with.
I don't know what that runs, when I started I had insurance that covered the x-ray.
Good Luck

I would see a chiropractor first. If at all possible, avoid surgery. I went through hell and I am still in pain everyday. They say physical therapy works well for most. I tried that, but unfortunately, it did not work for me. I hope you feel better soon.
